House Hold gods?

Furthermore, Josiah got rid of the mediums and spiritist, the household gods, the idols and all the other detestable things seen in Judah and Jerusalem.  This he did to fulfill the requirements of the law written in the book that Hilkiah the priest had discovered in the temple of the Lord . 2 Kings 23:24      As Judah  began its slide into immorality, like the rest of Israel had already done, occasionally there would be a King like Josiah. He was one of the few Kings who would seek God's wisdom, and surrender to obey God.  God blessed each of those Kings who did so.  One of things Judah had done was develop their own little gods.  They were found in virtually every household, therefore, they were called "household gods."  These would be little statues or things conveniently placed around the home so that the home dweller could pause and invest time in them.  Why? Because they provided meaning for their life, ...

The Empowered Christ-Follower

May you better know the incomparably great power that God gives to all who believe.  Yes, this power is yours ... the same power that raised Jesus from the dead and is greater that the Devil and his evil ones. Paul: Ephesians 1 Prayer     All too many of us suffer from spiritual anemia. Indeed it is epidemic, but there is a way to bring healing to this malady.  The spiritual protocols for making this anemia go into remission are very simple.  As a matter of fact, it may appear to be oversimplified as I explain them: First recognize, as the ancient wisdom of the Holy Bible prescribes, "every believer" has this power given to them. Yes, you have the Holy Spirit's resurrection power inside of you transforming you and empowering you to bear the fruit of the Spirit and the gifts of the Spirit; yet having the power and actually believing you have it makes a world of difference in your spiritual well being.  If you don't believe you have resurrection power ...

Lighting Us Up

May God enlighten the eyes of your heart so that you will better know the hope to which God has called you ... the riches of the glorious inheritance of the Saints. Part Of A Pauline Prayer:        Another prayer you can pray for those you love is a part of the same prayer we discussed yesterday.   It is a prayer for God to light up your life beginning with your heart.  It is a prayer where you, God's prayer trooper, is hoping and praying for your loves ones to better know the hope God gives us, and it is a hope that is a part of our calling.   Yes, God is calling us to hope. We indeed to have this hope, but to truly have a much better quality of life, we can embrace this hope.  I want my loves ones to embrace this hope.  Don't you?     How can we make this holy hug possible? It starts with you and me simply praying what Paul prayed for the church.  It is a prayer for God to enlighten the hearts of our loved...

Knowing God Better

May God fill you with The Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation that you may know HIM better. Paul      When I read this simple little prayer verse, it tells me just how much God can communicate in just a handful of words, and what is being hoped for in this prayer,  in your life and mine,  is the desire that we  know God better. So we have an amazing truth that God empowers you and me to know HIM better when a prayer is offered up for us to indeed know God better; therefore  Paul is offering this prayer up.  And he is offering it for God's holy people. He is offering for future generations of the Church.  He is offering for you and me.      So, I am wondering when was the last time any of us prayed for anyone, anywhere and anytime to know God better.  I have to confess I pray this just about every single day.  I pray it for my wife.  I pray it for each of my children and their spouses.  I pray it for ...

INFANTICIDE: CHRIST-FOLLOWERS HELP

Image
TO ABORT OR NOT TO ABORT: THAT IS A  DIFFICULT QUESTION MS. CLINTON IS NOTHING LIKE THOSE WHOM I HAVE LISTENED TO WHO HAVE STRUGGLED WITH THE QUESTIONS OF THE ABORTION DECISION! On July 20, 27 and 28, I posted 3 blogs on how Jesus told us to “WATCH OUT!”   Jesus did so to caution us when we privileged Americans select our leaders.  I hope you will scroll down on this blog and view the three blogs excerpted from my book  Rock-Solid Living In A Quicksand World.    In these blogs, I talk about how Jesus describes leaders who are  “Wolves in Sheeps Clothing!” This blog today, adapted from http://www.lifenews.com,   is the most relevant reason I will  NOT  vote for a person like Ms. Clinton who favors pure infanticide. I remember when Roe Vs. Wade was decided, and I also know how the judges were guided by the principle of when a “fetus” would be viable.  Based on the premise of “viability” the majority  “approved” Roe...

How Can Joy and Tribulation Go Together?

Consider it all joy ... when you encounter different kinds of trials.  Why is this so? Because once you have your faith tested, your faith will grow and this faith will produce a capability in you to endure whatever you face. James      One of the things that amazes me, in the Church arena of the USA, is that many come across as thinking that escaping tribulation, trials or tests is a part of being a Christian:   From where in the world does this kind of stinking thinking come? Certainly it does not come from the Bible, and that uncommon thing called common sense clearly belies such a notion.  It's like the revivalist who is reported to have said, "Once I met Jesus, all my problems ceased."  Well, once I met Christ, I gained a whole new batch of problems.  Plus Jesus said that we are no better than He who is our "master." Didn't Jesus suffer?  Then we have James telling us that once we encounter different kinds of trials, we are at a ...

What About Those Walls?

A Military Man & Christ-Follower's View Regarding Walls      As I observe the present day political battles, I have heard a lot about walls.  One says, "I'm going to build a wall, and the Mexicans are going to pay for it."  The other says, She doesn't believe in walls, and she believes in a border less society.  If I quote her correctly I think I have heard her say, "We don't need to build walls.  We need to build bridges."  She also says, "Walls won't work."  So it seems to me, as an independent voter, that we need to consider if walls are efficacious or not. My Background:      I have been both a democrat, and I have been a republican.  After, years of observing our political scene, I decided, as a Christ-Follower, that my allegiance is wrongly placed in any political party.  In my humble opinion, it is a bit idolatrous to vote just because I am a democrat.  So I cannot follow them.  This...
