God's Will: The Hold Up.

I will hold you up With my victorious Right  Hand God Isaiah 41:10d Somewhere in history a few millenia ago, I remember a story where the Israeli army was in battle, and the man Moses was on a hill watching the battle.  An amazing coincidence occurred, or perhaps it was Divine providence. Every time Moses held his hands up, Israel would defeat the enemy; however, if he tired and dropped his arms, the Israeli Army would begin to lose. It wasn't long before a couple of friends, Joshua and Caleb, realized that God was in this.  So, they came alongside of Moses, and when he tired, they would hold him.  That is they would hold his arms up. It's almost like their touch resulted in God's embrace of Moses. Sometimes, when life get's full of conflict or challenges, we can give it our best, and we can do all we can.  Sometimes, however, it can get a bit overwhelming.  Sometimes we need to simply quit struggling.  We really do.  Sometimes we need to sit down, set

God's Will: Taming Our Weakness Finding Help

I Will Strengthen You I Will Help You. God Isaiah 41:10c There are times during each of our journeys that we have within us all the stuff to be enough. But there are other times when business,  and the relentless never ending journey,  waft over us like huge waves that wash us ashore to the beach of weakness and simply needing a little help from our friends. This becomes more and more true as we age, and as our physical beings experience less stamina and or endurance. God wills to be available to His Covenant People -- Christ Followers -- for such times as these. He is very clear about this: Listen in to some of His conversations with us "I WILL strengthen you." I WILL Help You.  For God's Holy people, Jesus promised to not leave us comfortless, but that He would send us another comforter or helper which is the Holy Spirit.  And the Gospel According to Acts tells us (See Acts 1:8) That each one of us would receive power once the Holy Spirit came upon us.  Th

Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. As we continue, let’s Briefly view the two stepping-stones we mentioned in the previous two chapters before going on to this one: First, we can step into the future by sending our treasures on ahead via serving others in a way that Jesus takes very personally. Second, it is important to have the right prescription for our spiritual eyes in order that we may see. Now we are ready for stepping-stone number three. It is difficult for those of us living in the United States to think of ourselves as having masters. The roots of our country originally expressed just how free we ar

Don't Two: Taming Discouragement

Don't Be Discouraged For I AM Your God. God Isaiah 41:10b Years ago, I listened to a U.S. Military Veteran make a statement in which  he reported what gave him the power to get his life back on track after all the trauma of war.  He said, "One of the things I have learned is to let God do what God does and I will do what I do."  In other words, he had grown to the place where he could see that he had previously tried to live as if he were the god of his life.  In so doing he came up way short of what he needed to overcome life challenges. And when I say "way short" that is an understatement. Focusing on ourselves and our abilities, or the lack thereof, rarely ever works. Focusing on the one, who is unquestionably greater than we are, has proven time and time again to be life changing.  God is indeed greater than our my problems, flaws, brokenness and sin. If we sincerely cast all our cares or anxieties on Him, He will, by the power of the Holy

Don't

Don't Be Afraid For I AM With You. God Being afraid can really take charge of our lives.  Being anxious can cause us to keep our minds running and rob us of our peace.  Focusing on all the stuff that needs to be done or all the things going on in our lives really can keep our minds spinning.  Sometimes it can be downright overwhelming.   Sadly, all too many people think, "I am the only one going through this," which is not true.  Or they may think, "What is wrong with me?" To which I answer,   "Not a lot is wrong" because, as a Christ Follower, God really is in control.  You only need to focus on God being in charge of you and all that is going on in your life.  God really will take care of you through Christ our Lord and His blessed Holy Spirit.  Here is something to try that helps:  Sit still for ten minutes. Get comfortable.  Perhaps put a spiritual symbol, like a Cross, in front of you. Inhale the breath of life that God has
