I Want My Mind Back, Chaplain!

Not to long ago, I listened to the story of an anonymous Vet.  He had attempted suicide a number of times, and he was (at the time of the conversation) recovering from his last attempt.  Now he is not one of the Vets who has been slammed hard by the realities of multiple tours of duty to the war zone... not at all, though I can assure you that there are many. As I listened to him, his story of not being good enough rested on a number of things, but one frightening thing that jumped out of his conversation is a real contributor to his life malady:  His Faith. Huh?  What are you talking about Chaplain?  I am talking about exactly what I said.  One dominant feature of this man's story that has wrecked his life comes from his faith.  Oh... He could tell you the very day and hour he was "saved."  He could tell you where he was "saved."  He filled all the squares; yet he could not tell you of a single hour where he had peace.  For me this is a significant disconnect.

The Election Is Over

What next? Pray for those whom God has allowed in leadership. Now.... Be Blessed 2-day ... Especially 2-day. SoJourner

A Prayerful Vote

MAY YOUR WILL BE DONE TODAY, O LORD, ESPECIALLY TODAY   Today you have a choice.  Maybe you have more than one.  You can chose to be a good steward of a gift you have that is the envy of the world:  You  vote for the kind of government you want to lead this nation and thereby govern you.  Or you can choose to not do so. (Some like me voted early and by absentee ballot.)   Secondly, you can go out and vote without even thinking about God, God's will or the direction the ALMIGHTY would have this nation to go.  Or you can do as I have done (not just what I say to do.), and you can spend significant time prayerfully considering the state of our nation and its leadership.  You can know where the candidates stand on the issues. (Not the mud slinging). You can then allow the ALMIGHTY to lead you as you prayerfully consider your votes and cast your ballot. I am praying that The Church (the organism not necessarily the same as the organization) will be what The CREATOR wants us to be,

Baby Boomers It's Our Turn :o)

The Old Age Psalm tells us that God is with us "Even in our old Age."  I like this.  And now this promise is  even getting more and more interesting to me every day of my journey:  Why?  Well.... now that's a good question.   First its getting so because I am older now than I have ever been before.  And all the injuries I experienced from my teens, twenties, thirties (You know when you are invulnerable), forties and 50's are now, like the proverbial chickens,  coming home to roost.... Did I hear some one say "OUCH!" Second, I am a man who has done all I can to stave off this thing that Betty Davis said "Ain't for Sissies."  I exercise virtually everyday [ except one or two. ]  I do stretches, crunches, weight training, the elliptical, walking.... and I now even have an inversion table to turn me upside down and stretch my spine.  I eat right (though my waist line does not validate it, but my blood chemistries do.)  Now that I am a Chaplain,
