A Christ Follower: The Journey

The Lord, your God, will circumcise your heart  and the hearts of  of your descendants. God does this so that you will love the LORD your God with ALL your heart & ALL your soul, and HE does this so you WILL live. Deuteronomy 30:6 For me, one of my core priorities, has been for our children (now our grandchildren as well) to really be in love with the LORD. (Children for TLOML and me includes our bio children's spouses.)  When I was MUCH younger, I use to wonder if I truly fulfilled the commandment to Love GOD completely, and then one day GOD brought me to a couple of verses that turned my thinking around. I will mention only one in the blog today. (Deuteronomy 30:6) was one of those verses that caused my 180 swivel:  Like a light coming on in my spirit, GOD taught me the power of holding tight to HIS promises, especially this one.  And with this promise I have trusted GOD whole heartily to transform TLOML & me (And our children) to become authentic lovers of the Creator.

Draw close to God and God WILL draw close to you.   James 4:8 (NLT) Thinking about this promise provokes all kinds of ideas that bounce around in my cranium like a B B in a Box Car...  So let's bounce this around a bit.  QUESTION: We Can actually get close to GOD??? Is that right?  Yup? That is RIGHT ON TARGET!   Wait a minute!  How can we who, in comparison to God, are microscopic sub atomic particles moving around on a sub atomic particle that rotates around a speck in the universe, called the sun...  How can we can get close to THE ONE who started it all clicking and keeps it all ticking, while we are barely noticeable in the great scheme of things? Well... believe it or not God has made it easy for us.  He simply says, "Come here child." And the nano second we begin moving by faith away from sin toward the ALMIGHTY, HE rushes over and swoops us up like a little child and holds us lovingly in His divine embrace as He fills us with His love mercy and grace. Surrender your whole being to HIM to be used for righteous purposes.   Romans 6:13b This ancient wisdom seems kind of irrational on its face.  The idea of giving up ourselves to be utilized in a positive, powerful purposeful way seems "way out in left field."  It just does not make sense to the so called rational mind; however, lets take a quick look at something natural that brings great purposeful increase when surrender is the key principle involved Back when I was a young man about 26 years old, I actually took a corn seed and planted it along side of others.  I surrendered it to God's supernatural order of things.  This seed died, along with the other seeds.  Then the plants began to grow and eventually cornstalks grew.  Later corn began to grow in "cobs."  When the harvest was right, I pulled one ear of corn and began counting the seeds on one cob.   {Yes, I was young and curious in those days :o)  Anyway, I lost count at 500 plus "seeds" on on

Friendship with God is reserved for those who reverence HIM.     Psalm 25:15 Once Jesus said, "I no longer call you servants, but I call you friends because everything I learned from the Father, I passed on to you." John 15:`5.  And when you think about being a friend with God, to me it is .... well something that is hard to wrap my mind around; however it does not matter about whether or not this is easy to comprehend.  It is simply important that we take God at HIS word: God want's to be the best friend you have ever known.   So Reverence Him. Take up your cross and follow JESUS daily. Then ...  Be Blessed 2 day ... Especially 2 day. It's the only day you are guaranteed. SoJourner
