Why #3

NO FEAR   Why should I be fearful or afraid? Now that's a very good question in this age where anxiety disorders are as rampant as any malady known to humanity. Even though this is true, we can do something about it using our faith.  I know I have done so,  and it works for me.  Consider what God promises to His Saints who are coping with anxiety, as well as fear. God does not give to us the spirit of fear, but God gives us power, love and a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7        You may ask the practical question: How do I get this to work for me? Here is how you can do so: Begin by seeking to build your faith: Speak out loud this promise, while  in a private place. "God does not give to me this spirit of fear. God gives me power.  God gives me love. God gives me a sound mind." Do this several times.  Sit still and slow  your breathing. Breathe deeply as you imagine God breathing into you the breath of life that makes you become a living soul. (Genesis 2:7) Then

Why #2

An Elegant Sufficiency My God shall supply all you need according to His riches in glory Philippians 4:19 --Paul      Years ago, when our extended family gathered around the table, which was often, we had sweet fellowship, feasting and sharing. And though,  like most families who honestly admit a bit of dysfunctionality, we loved each other.  And we still do.  And so the six children with their spouses, and all their children, grandchildren -- and later great grandchildren--would feast together and enjoy the time together.  On birthdays and holidays we would have uncles, aunts, cousins and maybe a few friends show up. Everyone who came to Charlie and Peggy McGowen's home was always welcome. They were family for the day.      The experience always opened with prayer, and then after  becoming " full up to burst ," we would sit back, and one of us Alabama southern gents or ladies would burp boisterously. The emotional response was interesting to say the least.

Deeply Loved #2

LOVE DEMONSTRATED This is how God demonstrated His love to us:  He sent His one and only biological Son into the world that we might live through Him. This is love not that we loved God, But that He loved us and sent His Son  to turn aside God's wrath. 1 John 4:9-10 - John       Growing up in the southeastern part of the United States in the 1950s and 1960s, it was not uncommon to see people seal a deal with just a handshake.  After the handshake,  it was not too long before actions were started by those agreeing parties that proved that the handshake was "good. " Then the people involved were going to do the right thing.  I could hear these "old timers" say things like "Talk is cheap." Or they would also say, "Actions speak louder than words."  Demonstrating integrity carried far more weight with a person than just talking about it.      The same is true about God's love: God's talk was not cheap. God demonstrat

Faith To Help Us Overcome: Why

Why #1 Why should I Should I Believe I Cannot When God Tells Me: I can do ALL things through Christ who gives me strength! Philippians 4:13 -- Paul         Christ Follower have you come to a proverbial "fork in the road" where you seem to be facing an insurmountable challenge? Or a better way to ask this is have you come to a place in your life where you feel like you are facing an insurmountable challenge? I ask this the second way because it is very likely that what really "is" may not  be what "is" at all.        Let me explain: Challenges come, and immediate solutions do not seem easy to be found.  The evil one - or just the way you think about things - begin getting you to focus on what you do not have rather that what you do have.  Your locus of focus is on your liabilities rather than your assets. Panic, discouragement or fear start to consume your judgment and depression is not far behind. Why is this so?  It is so because you are
