House Hold gods?

Furthermore, Josiah got rid of the mediums and spiritist, the household gods, the idols and all the other detestable things seen in Judah and Jerusalem.  This he did to fulfill the requirements of the law written in the book that Hilkiah the priest had discovered in the temple of the Lord . 2 Kings 23:24      As Judah  began its slide into immorality, like the rest of Israel had already done, occasionally there would be a King like Josiah. He was one of the few Kings who would seek God's wisdom, and surrender to obey God.  God blessed each of those Kings who did so.  One of things Judah had done was develop their own little gods.  They were found in virtually every household, therefore, they were called "household gods."  These would be little statues or things conveniently placed around the home so that the home dweller could pause and invest time in them.  Why? Because they provided meaning for their life, but they also replaced their need to find their id

The Empowered Christ-Follower

May you better know the incomparably great power that God gives to all who believe.  Yes, this power is yours ... the same power that raised Jesus from the dead and is greater that the Devil and his evil ones. Paul: Ephesians 1 Prayer     All too many of us suffer from spiritual anemia. Indeed it is epidemic, but there is a way to bring healing to this malady.  The spiritual protocols for making this anemia go into remission are very simple.  As a matter of fact, it may appear to be oversimplified as I explain them: First recognize, as the ancient wisdom of the Holy Bible prescribes, "every believer" has this power given to them. Yes, you have the Holy Spirit's resurrection power inside of you transforming you and empowering you to bear the fruit of the Spirit and the gifts of the Spirit; yet having the power and actually believing you have it makes a world of difference in your spiritual well being.  If you don't believe you have resurrection power immediately

Lighting Us Up

May God enlighten the eyes of your heart so that you will better know the hope to which God has called you ... the riches of the glorious inheritance of the Saints. Part Of A Pauline Prayer:        Another prayer you can pray for those you love is a part of the same prayer we discussed yesterday.   It is a prayer for God to light up your life beginning with your heart.  It is a prayer where you, God's prayer trooper, is hoping and praying for your loves ones to better know the hope God gives us, and it is a hope that is a part of our calling.   Yes, God is calling us to hope. We indeed to have this hope, but to truly have a much better quality of life, we can embrace this hope.  I want my loves ones to embrace this hope.  Don't you?     How can we make this holy hug possible? It starts with you and me simply praying what Paul prayed for the church.  It is a prayer for God to enlighten the hearts of our loved one, and our hearts, so as to embrace our ancient and eterna

Knowing God Better

May God fill you with The Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation that you may know HIM better. Paul      When I read this simple little prayer verse, it tells me just how much God can communicate in just a handful of words, and what is being hoped for in this prayer,  in your life and mine,  is the desire that we  know God better. So we have an amazing truth that God empowers you and me to know HIM better when a prayer is offered up for us to indeed know God better; therefore  Paul is offering this prayer up.  And he is offering it for God's holy people. He is offering for future generations of the Church.  He is offering for you and me.      So, I am wondering when was the last time any of us prayed for anyone, anywhere and anytime to know God better.  I have to confess I pray this just about every single day.  I pray it for my wife.  I pray it for each of my children and their spouses.  I pray it for my grandchildren and their spouses whom I do not yet know. Any one of my fr
