The Power of Giving Up
Surrender your whole being to HIM to be used for righteous purposes. Romans 6:13b
This ancient wisdom seems kind of irrational on its face. The idea of giving up ourselves to be utilized in a positive, powerful purposeful way seems "way out in left field." It just does not make sense to the so called rational mind; however, lets take a quick look at something natural that brings great purposeful increase when surrender is the key principle involved
Back when I was a young man about 26 years old, I actually took a corn seed and planted it along side of others. I surrendered it to God's supernatural order of things. This seed died, along with the other seeds. Then the plants began to grow and eventually cornstalks grew. Later corn began to grow in "cobs." When the harvest was right, I pulled one ear of corn and began counting the seeds on one cob. {Yes, I was young and curious in those days :o) Anyway, I lost count at 500 plus "seeds" on one cob. Actually I think I lost count at around 560. Now the actual number of seeds on each cob is not too important, but this single ear of corn had reproduced or multiplied 100s of times over, and remember this did NOT include the other ears on the stalk. One seed, therefore, produced 1000's by simply being surrendered to the Creator and the Creator's plan. (Check out "The Plan" Ephesians 1:11 NIV)
Jesus said, "I am the vine, and your are the branches.... if you abide in me and my word abides in you, you will bear MUCH fruit." He also said, "Apart from ME you can do nothing." (NO-thing friend.) You see the real spiritual problem many are having is they are NOT giving "it" up to Jesus. All to many are trying to live by rules and work hard instead of become the new creations God intends. They are kind of like squirming around small children when a parent is trying to help them. The key is to "BE STILL and KNOW GOD." (Check out Psalm 46.) God is NOT saying, "Don't just sit there DO something!" God is INDEED saying, "Don't just DO SOMETHING.... sit there:o)"
There is great power C.O.G (Child Of God) in living one day at at time and abiding IN Jesus. There is great spiritual power in "dying to yourself" and giving "it" up to God. There is GREAT spiritual power when we stop squirming around. There is GREAT life transforming power in SURRENDER, especially when you surrender to the LORD each new day and each new way.
NOW: Be Blessed 2 day ... Especially 2 day ...
It is the ONLY day guaranteed you.
