Going Back To Get A Future

Going Back To Get A Future: Here we go again. I am starting over with a new blog on a new site.  It is chaplainmac.com, and I hope all my friends on www.achristfollower.blogpost.com will give it a chance with this blog.  I am not abandoning my Christ Follower community.  It’s just that, while I can still do Christ Follower, www.chaplainmac.com gives me more liberty to do more and reach more people. Although today, while blogging on that site, because I am a new bee, I lost the whole blog for today and cannot find it. Still, I do hope you all will check it out. You may have to type chaplainmac.com into your search engine to get to the site. As I start over, I am hoping to be able to do more stuff from my new and exciting book that is entitled Rock-Solid Living In A Quicksand World.  I hope you all will go with me and journey with me as I encourage people of our western civilization and other to go back to those foundational principles that served us s...

Standing At The Crossroads

This is what the Lord says, "Stand at the crossroads and look. Ask for the ancient paths. Ask where the good way is. Walk in it. You will find rest for your souls." Jeremiah 6:15 Okay, this is simple enough for your daily Divine intersections. Now that you are at this crossroads, What are you going to do? SoJourner

An Encouraging Short Story From The Pasts

A WARRIOR’S STORY:  THE MIRACLE OF A FORGIVEN LIFE. It has been a very long day today. Being the only full time Staff Chaplain on duty, I had more to do, and I was getting rather tired. I had spent more of my time with paper work than I would like, as well as serving on our IDT's (Interdisciplinary Team) Meetings.  Add to this the fact that our Hospice/Palliative Care Unit was experiencing WW2 Veterans declining and dying in large numbers. Yes, indeed, this has been a very long rewarding day for this Chaplain. I had been told by one of our more inexperienced Chaplains that the “Psychiatrists do not want Chaplains on the Psychiatric Ward.”  Being clinically trained, I doubted this very seriously, but being the "new kid on the block" I decided to not challenge the assumption; however, staying away from this ward kept me away from the very opportunities too which I am called. Keep In Mind… God Changes Things. As the day came to an end, (Or so I thought) the S...

Crumbling Foundations and Hope

Image
When the foundations are being destroyed,  what can the righteous do ? Psalm 11:3           Anyone who truly has observed history, and lived through it for decades, can see that something has really happened in the United States of America.  Our country began with a foundation based on our Judeo-Christian heritage.  Persecuted people came here to be free, especially in the area of religion. They wanted the freedom to worship and live freely according to the dictates of their heart. The first amendment to the Constitution of The United States of America guaranteed this freedom. Then an atheist woman named Madalyn Murray O'hair took on our foundational principles by going to the courts to prevent Bible reading in our schools.  This was 1963 in Murray V. Curlett , and she prevailed. The next year sponsored prayer was taken out of school. At first the Church just remained silent, and it let things roll on; after all, the 1950's ...

Five "T's Of Coping With Terrorism

Terrorism Hits America... Again ! Guest Blog From Association of Christian Counselors www.aacc.net Americans awakened on June 12, 2016 to horrific headlines: a gunman with apparent ties to radical Islam/Isis murdered 50 Americans and wounded more than 50 others in cold blood in Orlando, Florida. Not only was this vicious terrorist attack perpetrated on our own soil, it was done at the beginning of our summer vacation period in the most popular destination in the country for tourism and family entertainment. To date, this unconscionable act of violence constitutes the largest single mass murder in United States history. Obviously the nefarious goals of these radical, violent attacks include inflicting widespread terror, trauma, and tragedy. While many of these terrorist attacks have occurred over the past few years around the world, and increasingly during the month of Ramadan (June 5th to July 5th), this kind of enormous death toll carried out on U.S. soil literally brings the...

Orlando

Shining The Light On A Small Part of Islam  A nd It's Sharia Law As I sit here at my computer, I am reflecting on Orlando and the most horrific murderous act committed on American soil since September 11, 2001.  What could motivate a human being to murder 50 something people and wounded many others?  Was he insane?  Was it just evil taking him over?  Or was it motivated by his view of  a god and what that god requires? I think the answer is all of the above:  How can anyone do such a thing without being insane?  How can it not be evil, at least that's what my Christian faith teaches. Evil, in english, is the opposite of live. Spell live backwards, in english, and you get evil.  Jesus says it this way, "The thief (the devil) comes to steal, kill and destroy.  By the way, in english, Devil is the opposite of lived. So, I guess what I am saying is that whatever or whoever destroys innocent life is motivated by evil or even an ev...

Never Alone

I Will Pray To The Father And HE Will Give You Another Comforter. He Will Abide With You Forever. Jesus      Sometimes, people feel alone or are  lonely even when in a crowd.  It could be because it is just their way of living through the journey.  It could be that it's "how they roll." They may have grown up in less than a functional family or situation.  So the survivor in them taught them to isolate. Which is not the same as to practice solitude; yet all to often loneliness can surprise you.  It can sneak up on you.  You can have loved ones all around, and you might even be in a crowd, but a darkness can envelop you.        Jesus gives you hope in situations like this.  Practicing being lonely for survival or being lonely by surprise, usually results in us focusing on the darkness, the feeling bad and we then might just put ourselves down for feeling as such.  Keep in mind, if this happens, that fe...
