The Lord Almighty Is With Us! David -- Psalm 46:7      David is was a Warrior turned King.  He had fought in hand to hand combat with beasts and with blood thirsty human animals.  He was a man who could identify with our modern military person who has seen some of the worst of people can do to people.  There were times he was drowned in boredom, and their were other times abject terror took him over.  Yet, he was an exceptional warrior because, in the midst of the boredom and terror, he was a man of faith.  He simply made a choice to believe one very important truth that helped him find peace.  He fully believed the life giving truth that the LORD ALMIGHTY was with his people and with him.  So, this faith gave him courage, one day at a time.       Centuries later, God demonstrated this vital truth to us through a little baby.  His Hebrew name was/is Yeshua.  We know Him as Jesus. The Power of Going With The Flow. There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells David --Psalm 46:4      Of all the wonderful experiences of well being coming from God, that David enjoys,  is the benefit of God's river. It is a visionary river that flows through his mind and heart.  This life giving, revitalizing, refreshing vision that he is experiencing replaces David's fear with gladness. It does so because this river flows in such a way that it causes God's city to be glad.  Naturally, or I should say supernaturally, just thinking about such a thing, gives David the same joy.  It's really interesting to me to see how  David's focusing on this flowing spiritual water also reminds him of something very powerful.  The river, which streams through the city of God, is actually the place where The Most High Dwells.  So not only is God our refuge, stren...

David: Psalm 46:2a       I don't know how many times Jesus said, "don't be afraid,"  But it was a lot: One of those times that He said it was when He came walking on the water and they thought He was a ghost.  Now if I imagined seeing a ghost, I am fairly certain that my fear factor would go through the roof.  Research shows me that the phrase "Don't be afraid" is stated more than any other phrase in the Bible, especially in the New Testament.  Fear can be a really big deal.  I know this to be true from some very real life and death experiences.            Jesus left us His antidote for fear in a passage related to death and dying.  Public speaking, I am told is the number one greatest fear, but fear of death is number two.  At any rate, here is what Jesus said to people who were facing His death head on, and who were very afraid of the storms He told them were c...

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. David -- Psalm 46:1       From time to time, each of us need a refuge.  We need a hiding place.  We need to get to a safe place where it seems well with our souls and is indeed well with our souls.  David sang about such a place in the hiding place psalm.  He actually wrote this song for his people to be sang in worship.  Here is the good news of the about our refuge.  I write it today in Refuge One, with more to follow.      " God Is ."    It is true that "The fool (insane person) says in his heart there is no God ...       Today The Love of My Life and I were driving home from a weekend where we celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary.  Since it was close by, we went to Disney World.  We over did it a bit and we are both tired; however, we were really blessed by the care we received and the interaction with others celebrating anniversaries and birthdays ... OR they were just having fun.  One of the things that made this weekend fun is related to the fact that the folks at Disney placed this nice big round bright red button on both of us that said, "Celebrating 45th Anniversary"  or something like that. And so the questions began.     The primary question came  from a young couple sitting near us at breakfast on our anniversary.  A young woman asked us, "What's the secret?" Bad News! Each one of us broke God's law:   We put others in our lives as greater priorities in our lives. Our modern day idols take His place. We fail to revere His Holy Name, we even use it disrespectfully. We don't take a Holy rest.  No weekly sabbatical We dishonor our parents Many parents dishonor our God by hurting their children. We hate, we murder our babies, and our streets are red with blood. We commit, with regularity, sexual immorality, especially in the heart. People steal, especially our government steals. Lying is pathological and or epidemic We are not happy with what we have so we covet what belongs to others. Some think and teach that people who have must give it to them because they don't have.        Recently I published a book. You can click on it's innards in this blog today, if you want to.  And if you don't, that's okay. The book's title is  Rock Solid Living in a Quicksand World.   By the way, this is a very short book, and it is easy to read.  You do not have slog your way though some huge several hundred page boring narrative.  Why do such a thing?  Writing by itself is challenging.  Editing and re-editing, multiple times, working with those editors, especially one who clearly did and does not like my message, is also a struggle.  Most of them are really good, but that one clearly wants me to change what I was saying.  So I had to fire her. Doing such a thing is NOT in my nature, and it hurts me in my heart when I make those kind of difficult choices.
