NOT GUILTY!

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.     Romans 5:1 A person committed crimes that brought him before the Judge.  The law, under which he was judged, declared him to deserve to be punished.  Yet, after considering "the preponderance of the evidence," he was declared NOT Guilty.  He was freed to live a new life!   Each one of us has broken God's law.  Under the "Law of Sin and Death," if you committed sins... or broke God's law... you were condemned; yet, once a year, a High Priest would sacrifice a lamb (Or some other sacrificial animal on your behalf.)  In the Egyptian times, in the Bible,  it was the Passover Lamb. The death penalty was satisfied (the fine was paid) by the sacrifice of the "lamb of God,"  The lamb was the best of the flock, with no flaws. This was called atonement or the turning aside of God's wrath.  This would also be a form of justification.  ...

A Friend Counselor Savior

I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.   Jesus   I was just thinking about friendship, and it occurred to me that I can probably count on one hand those people with whom I would confide my story.  I can count on one hand the people with whom I would provide the title of my friend.   Oh there are people with whom I am friendly and, towards me, they are friendly.  Yet we are not friends. There are people who have gotten really close.  There are even people who think of me as a friend because of all I have given to them; yet I have no sense that I am indeed their friend. In fact, if I needed them, I am fairly certain I could not rely on them in anyway that they have relied on me.   I guess this is why I am kind of amazed when I hear Jesus telling us that He considers Chri...

Just Thinking About It.

Today I was just thinking about the impact of a promise from God to you and me:  John 1:12.  It's a big "if,'' but "IF" we receive the Son of God (Jesus), we receive the power or right or privilege to be a child of God.  We actually and quite literally become a C-O-G (Child Of God) in the Kingdom of God.  We actually and quite literally are rescued from the darkness of our past.  We are no longer enslaved to the Kingdom of Darkness.  Nor are we enslaved to passions that can continue brokenness from the past that wounded us.  We actually and quite literally have the stuff to be enough so that we have Victory Over The Darkness.   Think about this today. Then be blessed 2day Especially 2day.   SoJourner

Just A Part Of The Journey

J U S T   A    PART   O F   T H E   J O U R N E Y:    Soon TLOML and I will have completed another 5 year section of this adventure we call life.  It has been a privilege, a time of weeping/struggling and a time of seeking first God's Kingdom and His righteousness. Now we are just days away from moving to the next turn in the road.   There are people whose lives have been dramatically changed:  Some were changed for the better.  They have constructed or re-constructed their faith in God.  They have begun to overcome the traumas and the pain.  Some are still stuck for various reasons, and others... well I will leave that alone... by their fruits they are surely known.  We too are dramatically changed.  This includes spiritual change, emotional change, relational change, financial change...physical change.  It's just a part of this sojourn.   Gonna miss some of ...

Wisdom Regarding The Gratitude List

Each week, in our weekly Military Veteran's class that we call "Soul Talk," a group of Veteran's answer one question:  How is it with your soul?  As we do we utilize the "Wisdom Wheel," while the group interacts and answers the question. Ever so often the idea is floated (especially when discussing challenging times) that it would be helpful to set up a gratitude list.  This has set me to wondering, "What makes this so important?"  The following is a little bit of what I have gathered:   It seems to me that setting up a gratitude list refocuses my thoughts from looking at circumstance in a negative way.  I can be complaining about all the "I don't haves" for as long as I want, and I will get the same thing.  I will get a sense of darkness and uncomfortable emotions... maybe even real pain.  After all it seems that it is true that my feelings will follow my thoughts, and it is true that for every thought there is a feeling and fo...
