Changing Directions

Psalm 25:5 NIV Guide me in Your truth and teach me, for You are God my Savior, and my hope is in You all day long Are you making a change in you life's direction? Here are 5 questions to ask I think can help. Is this change reasonable? God expects us to think. His guidance may transcend human reasoning, but it never excludes it. God doesn't bypass our mind; He operates through it: "Brethren, do not be children in your thinking; yet in evil be babes, but in your thinking be mature" (1 Corinthians 14:20). We are warned in Scripture not to put our mind in neutral. We are to think and practice what we know to be true (Philippians 4:8, 9). Does a realistic opportunity exist? Closed doors are not meant to be knocked down. If you have a hopeless scheme, let it go. If it isn't God's timing, wait. If a realistic opportunity exists, and all the other factors are in agreement, then take the plunge. God may open a window of opportunity, but it will close if not tak...

FACING A DECISION Part One Of 2 Parts

Psalm 25:4 NIV Show me your ways, O LORD, teach me your paths In today's jouney thoughts, I would like to share with you 5 questions, from Dr. Neil Anderson (Freedom In Christ Ministries, that  you'll want to ask yourself when you're faced with a decision. These 5 represent moral issues and godly wisdom that will give you some stuff to be enough, if you prayerfully/carefully give them consideration. Later I will talk about 5 more.  Anyway, hang on because here we go: Have you prayed about it? Prayer was never intended to be a fourth-down punting situation in which we ask God to bail us out of our hasty decisions. Prayer is intended to be a first-down huddle. Proverbs 3:5-6 would be your best play to call in this game of choice making.  It is not a good idea to ask God to bless our plans. It is best to ask God to guide you and reveal HIS plans more than it is is bless your limited perspective choices. Is it consistent with the Word of God? In Ame...

The Miracle Of Loving God As God Would Have Us.

Okay.   Back in the day when I was coming up and learning how to be a Christian, rather than just legalistically do Christian stuff, I had a worry: I worried that when God says "Love the LORD your God with all your heart and soul and mind and strength,"  I had an inner gnawing that said, "you don't do that... do you?"  Actually it got sorta disconcerting. Then something happened: I came across a verse that I know I had to have read many times.  After all, I had read the Bible through, and so I had to have passed it along the way.  Anyway, I came across Deuteronomy 30:6, which shouted the miracle I am about to share.  It also let me know that it is not just about TLOML and me.  It is about our children, their children, and so on. Here it is: "The LORD your God will circumcise your heart, and the hearts of your descendants, so that you will love the LORD your God with all your heart and so that you will live!" Did you catch that? We are indeed com...

Building/Rebuilding A Conscience In Your Children And You

Hear, O Israel: The  LORD  our God, the  LORD  is one. Love the  LORD  your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts.  Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the door-frames of your houses and on your gates.  Since the early 1900's, and especially the early 1960's, there has been a move to remove the truth about the values that formed our nation, and it continues to this day. History has been re visioned and is being re visioned. Prayer in school and Bible reading (practices begun when our nation first began) were made taboo by our courts.  Teaching of the 10 Commandments and the Golden Rule became forbidden.  Thomas Jefferson's discussi...

We Need To Rebuild What Is Torn Down.

Since the sixties ( as in early sixities) a tidal wave trend opposing our Judeo Christian traditions --that  guided our nation since its inception -- swept through our nation and began to infect our nation.  Since that time, the family began to break down, STD's have become epidemic, murder, moelestation, mahem, suicide, greed and other insanity began to  envelop the culture of this new secular humanistic society that has been losing its soul. We began to reap what we have sown. (The secularist would rather I call it "Karma.")  I will stick with our more Judeo-Christian verion, however. Back in the day, I learned the school stuff, but we also learned things like the 100th Psalm, in praise of God. Matter of fact, I still can recite it to day.  Things like   "The Love Chapter of the Bible," which is 1 Corinthians 13, especially verses 4-8...verses that give EXCELLENT guidance for what it means to demonstrate love.  And ... OH Yeah... the 10 Commandments...
