Building/Rebuilding A Conscience In Your Children And You

Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the door-frames of your houses and on your gates. 

Since the early 1900's, and especially the early 1960's, there has been a move to remove the truth about the values that formed our nation, and it continues to this day. History has been re visioned and is being re visioned. Prayer in school and Bible reading (practices begun when our nation first began) were made taboo by our courts.  Teaching of the 10 Commandments and the Golden Rule became forbidden.  Thomas Jefferson's discussion (in the Federalist Papers,) which defended religion, was used to establish the opposite principle he clearly intended,   when he discussed the "separation of Church and State" with the Baptists of his day.  

As a result, traditional American values have been made anemic: They have been replaced by the Secular Humanist's values and their Agnostic/Atheistic philosophy, accompanied by political correctness.  Their religion  says, "Everything is relative" Their PC philosophy violates the first amendment of the U.S. Constitution and makes them controllers of what is appropriate speech. 


The "Chickens are coming home to roost:" Within a very short period of time after prayer, Bible reading and values teaching were removed from our public schools, we began to "reap what we have sown:"  Multiple assassinations occurred.  Riots  in the streets of America sprang up. Crystal clear standards of right and wrong became a polluted system of grey areas confusing the culture and prompting rebellion in the streets. Abortions, that have taken 53 million lives, became validated by our courts. The families of America began to disintegrate, with many having NO Dad living in the home. Suicide rates and homicide rates  took the lives of 10 times as many people as did the Vietnam war during the same 11 year time period.This has continued.  And there is no out cry.  Sadly this is only the tip of the ice berg. The "culture war" eroded away our values as the Church seems to have slept soundly... until now.


Now it is time for parents and grandparents to re-build our consciences and build our descendants consciences.  It is time to reclaim our Judeo-Christian values.  it is time to sharpen the line between right and wrong, and to do so in a way that will last.  Begin by Learning the 10 Commandments and the Golden Rule.  Do so by following the pattern and principles in the scripture above. (Deuteronomy 6:4-8.) Go ahead.   Read it again, and then consider the following about this building and rebuilding about which I speak:


  • Doing so demonstrates holy God love. 
  • Get 10 C's/Golden rule "inside:"Memorize them.
  • Impress them on our Children as IMPORTANT.
  • Don't let them make up their own minds.
  • Teach and teach by example.
  • Talk to them about about it at home.
  • Walk these values out with your family.
  • Live these values.
  • Putting them to bed or wake them up is a good time to put values and life in rhyme.
  • Are you reading a Bible together and praying?
  • Pay attention to what is in your home?
  • Jewelry: Does yours validate your faith?
  • Decor of your home: Does it validate your faith?
  • Music: Does it validate your faith?
  • TV Shows:  Do they validate your faith?
  • Teach them ABC's?  Then teach  THE 10 C's.
  • Teach them books of the Bible.
  • View Christian Films: Veggie Tales Anyone?
  • Read Christian Books with them. 
  • Find a Church in which you can learn about God.
  • Find a Church that is kid friendly.
  • Find a Church that is Bible friendly.
  • Go to Church and BE the Church together.
  • Find a Church that reinforces your values.
  • Find a school that does the same.
  • Be proactive about getting  values back.
  • Witness to others about your faith.
  • Rearing your child is YOUR job.
  • Don't rely on the church to rear your child.
These values sustained Israel for thousands of years. (Have you seen a "Hittite" lately?) Yet the Jews are still around.  These values helped USA for hundreds of years.  Therefore, it is indeed time to build and rebuild our values and  consciences.  It is time to reclaim our heritage.  It is time to learn the 10 Commandments and the Golden Rule. Come on...Know Jesus and Teach about Jesus! It is time to be involved with our Churches and for them to be involved with us. It is time to pass this blog on to 10 people.  "We will reap what we sow" if we do so.  AND... we will ...

We Can Be So Much More.

   We Can Be So Much More:  Let us learn about the powerful identity God the Father gives us, through our being IN Christ Jesus by the power of The Holy Spirit. Let us embrace our God given Eternal Inheritance.  ( Ephesians 1:3-14)  Let us get up, each morning and give ourselves up to God. (Romans 12:1-2.)  Let us wake up! And practice Gods practice of putting off the deeds of darkness, of being empowered to behave decently, like people who live in the day time. (Romans 13:11-14) Let us cloth our selves, in Jesus, by putting on the full armor of God each day! This will make us strong in the Lord and in His mighty power, and it will give us all we need to stand against the Devil's schemes. (Ephesians 6:10-20) Let us submit to God, and resist the Devil so he will have to flee from us. (James 4:7) Learn all we can about the enemy and know he has no authority over us.
