The Miracle Of Loving God As God Would Have Us.

Okay.   Back in the day when I was coming up and learning how to be a Christian, rather than just legalistically do Christian stuff, I had a worry: I worried that when God says "Love the LORD your God with all your heart and soul and mind and strength,"  I had an inner gnawing that said, "you don't do that... do you?"  Actually it got sorta disconcerting. Then something happened: I came across a verse that I know I had to have read many times.  After all, I had read the Bible through, and so I had to have passed it along the way.  Anyway, I came across Deuteronomy 30:6, which shouted the miracle I am about to share.  It also let me know that it is not just about TLOML and me.  It is about our children, their children, and so on. Here it is: "The LORD your God will circumcise your heart, and the hearts of your descendants, so that you will love the LORD your God with all your heart and so that you will live!" Did you catch that? We are indeed com...

Building/Rebuilding A Conscience In Your Children And You

Hear, O Israel: The  LORD  our God, the  LORD  is one. Love the  LORD  your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts.  Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the door-frames of your houses and on your gates.  Since the early 1900's, and especially the early 1960's, there has been a move to remove the truth about the values that formed our nation, and it continues to this day. History has been re visioned and is being re visioned. Prayer in school and Bible reading (practices begun when our nation first began) were made taboo by our courts.  Teaching of the 10 Commandments and the Golden Rule became forbidden.  Thomas Jefferson's discussi...

We Need To Rebuild What Is Torn Down.

Since the sixties ( as in early sixities) a tidal wave trend opposing our Judeo Christian traditions --that  guided our nation since its inception -- swept through our nation and began to infect our nation.  Since that time, the family began to break down, STD's have become epidemic, murder, moelestation, mahem, suicide, greed and other insanity began to  envelop the culture of this new secular humanistic society that has been losing its soul. We began to reap what we have sown. (The secularist would rather I call it "Karma.")  I will stick with our more Judeo-Christian verion, however. Back in the day, I learned the school stuff, but we also learned things like the 100th Psalm, in praise of God. Matter of fact, I still can recite it to day.  Things like   "The Love Chapter of the Bible," which is 1 Corinthians 13, especially verses 4-8...verses that give EXCELLENT guidance for what it means to demonstrate love.  And ... OH Yeah... the 10 Commandments...

CASTING ALL YOUR CARES ON HIM!

Come to me all of you who are struggling and I will give you rest for your soul:   JESUS Seems like everywhere I go, these days, people are struggling: Spiritually some seem lost (maybe they are lost) or the "well of their soul" is empty. Emotionally some are walking through the valley of everyday living.  Or they are angry and get angry at the drop of a hat.  I witness this while driving as people drive their cars like they are bumper cars and rage on, putting others at risk.  Anxiety permeates hearts and fear resides inside. Still others cannot seem to make a relationship work, no matter what.  Still too, their is the BIG E.  The "economy stupid" as one Govenor kept telling himself so he could be elected President.  Folks are having difficulty finding or keeping a job.  Last but not least, health enters into the picture for some.  Makes a person feel sort of lonely some times? One thing that helps me is a core value of my life: Spending ...

If God Grants Me 1/1/11

For some 2010 has been a challenging year.  For others, not so much.  In fact it may have been a VERY good year.  Some have taken what took place and made it better. No matter what has happened, as we SoJourn  into the next year, let me encourage you to live one day at a time,  taking one step at a time, acknowledging God's love for you and God's Sovereignty over whatever happened. Add to this a daily attitude of gratitude  that is focused on your blessings  and you will  cut down on your stressing. Since 2009 was such a difficult year for my family,  I have sought to  daily journey  2010 the above Wisdom way of "The Ancient of Days."   On my better days,  if I do so, then I experience better days.  If not... not so much. I am glad to have had more better days than not.  Then again, with God's help, I have been looking at each day differently this year, more times than not.  I Praise God for both ...
