If God Grants Me 1/1/11

For some 2010 has been a challenging year.  For others, not so much.  In fact it may have been a VERY good year.  Some have taken what took place and made it better. No matter what has happened, as we SoJourn  into the next year, let me encourage you to live one day at a time,  taking one step at a time, acknowledging God's love for you and God's Sovereignty over whatever happened. Add to this a daily attitude of gratitude  that is focused on your blessings  and you will  cut down on your stressing. Since 2009 was such a difficult year for my family,  I have sought to  daily journey  2010 the above Wisdom way of "The Ancient of Days."   On my better days,  if I do so, then I experience better days.  If not... not so much. I am glad to have had more better days than not.  Then again, with God's help, I have been looking at each day differently this year, more times than not.  I Praise God for both ...

It Is Well With My Soul.

I have placed 4 videos on A Christ Follower of a song that was created out of the loss and distress of a person's life. The impact of this song on people's lives has been immeasurable.  I hope you find comfort and peace from these.  I hope you will take time to relax and listen to them either one at a time, at different sittings or all at once.  The story behind the story can be seen in the Bill Gaither video clip or the first video clip on the left. It is my desire that words of this encouraging music will provide you with the stuff to be enough via the grace of God.  May it be well with your sould today, and may you  .... Be Blessed 2-day ... Especially 2-day. SoJourner

Wondering?

Just sitting here wondering what are the spiritual issues (or any other issues) concerning folks as they begin stepping into the new year?

A NOT SO MERRY CHRISTMAS: An Encouraging Word

That first Christmas, though completely prophetic, was anything but "merry."  Think about it:   Mary, Mother of The Son of God, was 9 months pregnant.  Yup!  And she is riding on a vehicle with 4 legs... did I hear anyone say "donkey?"  How comfortable would that be?   Her husband was marrying her, but the rumors (all true of course) that the Daddy was NOT the Daddy abounded throughout their Jewish caravan and family.  This set Mary up to be stoned. (I am not talking about stoned on drugs.  I am talking about a rock concert on her person, one rock at a time.)  The Step Daddy, Joeseph, was not traveling on vacation, he was being forced by the ruthless Roman governement to be relieved of his money in the form of taxes at the whim of the latest Roman leader. What about hotel reservations?  None were made, and this meant homelessness for the family. Kind of scarey! Every place they went said "No Vacancy."  So they found a cave where ...

ADVENT: Choosing To Love: C.A.R.E

So many folks struggle with developing  a working core value of what constitutes love. All too often, their end result is .... well... not so good.  Sadly, folks "fall in love" and out of love.  Love for most is only an  emotion rather than a symptom of the real thing:  Sadly they spend their lives slipping and sliding through broken relationships that pass the carnage on to future generations.  I hope, in this blog, that you find a better way and improve your love quotient for the good of all concerned. The candle representing "love" on the Advent Wreath  is symbolic of something that is life changing.  Those who know ole SoJourner also know I spell love with an unusual acrostic: C  ommitment .   John 3:16-17 is God's own expression of NOT falling in love, but choosing to commit and give 100% as love ( not the mere 50/50 that folks say is needed to make "it" in a relationship." ) Wow! gonna fail in school if you shoot for the 5...

Advent: Want Some P.E.A.C.E??? Well Do Ya?

"My peace I leave with you.  My peace I give to you, and it's not the kind of peace the world gives.  So, don't let your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."   Jesus Is there really such a thing?  Can someone leave you or  me peace simply as a gift?  Is there really a peace that you and I can receive or develop that will give us the ability to overcome our troubles and keep our hearts from being "afraid?"  If there is such a thing "I wan't some of dat."  Sorry Carman :oI All I can tell you is what I have found that works for me:  Guess what?  Here comes the acrostic "Kid" all over again {:0)> P roperly E xpecting that ... A ccepting C hrist E nds in Eternal living "Eternal Living?"  What's that?  When the Bible teaches us John 3:16, it tells us we receive "Eternal Life."  From the Greek language, this quite literally is translated "To share in the very life of God."  In other...

Advent: Having Some Joy!

"Tis the season to be jolly."  REALLY??? Who said?  Ask the folks who have lost loved ones this time of year if this is correct.  Or asked someone who is all alone.  Or ask someone who is homeless, hungry or mentally ill, physically ill or who has a loved one who is ill.   Go ahead: Ask the one who is sleeping in a car each night or some other vehicle.  Walk right up to them and say "Is this the season to be jolly?"   Doubt they are gonna "name that tune" as the tune of their season. Well what about joy?  Now that is another issue.  I have known some who are labeled among the "have nots" or who have been traumatized by life who have found joy.  Really?  Yes... really! This Web Log cannot cover it all, but I will try to break it down using another one of those acrostics that I love to use. J ustified:  This relates to the person who has learned, no matter what their social situation, that "it is well with my soul." E...
