God's Eternal LIfe Covenant With You
It's Astounding
One of the extraordinary things about God's covenant making with us, is how we can astoundingly experience a unique relationship with the Creator. Think about this. God reached out, and reaches out to us, to forgive us, make us clean, bring healing to the brokenness in our lives, embrace us, share eternal life with us and transform us! This is unusual, when you consider most deities, want the human to appease them.
It amazes me to think about how small we are in the grand scheme of things: We are merely microscopic sub atomic particles, resting on a microscopic molecule (called the earth) that rotates around a speck in the universe called the sun. And the sun cannot even be seen by the naked eye elsewhere in the universe; yet, we have an opportunity to be in a personal relationship with this God who created it all, sustains it all, and God knows each part and parcel of creation by name; meanwhile He governs the miraculous life forms of Creation.
Nowhere is this covenant better explained, than in the book of Hebrews. Here The Almighty ties together the Old Testament and New Testament. In doing so, God reveals His heart's desire: It's profound that He wants you to know you are loved more than you can imagine, and that He has established a life plan covenant to benefit you and me! If you choose to take part in this offer from God, you will never be the same. Take a careful and prayerful look at the first chapter of Hebrews to begin your first steps. Learn how you can participate in this awe-inspiring covenant.
Hebrews 1:1-14
1 In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe. 3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. 4 So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs.
5 For to which of the angels did God ever say,
“You are my Son; today I have become your Father”?Or again,“I will be his Father,
and he will be my Son”?
5 For to which of the angels did God ever say,
“You are my Son; today I have become your Father”?Or again,“I will be his Father,
and he will be my Son”?
6 And again, when God brings his firstborn into the world, he says,
“Let all God’s angels worship him.”
“Let all God’s angels worship him.”
7 In speaking of the angels he says,
“He makes his angels winds,
his servants flames of fire.”
his servants flames of fire.”
8 But about the Son he says,
“Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever,
and righteousness will be the scepter of your kingdom.
9 You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness;
therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions
by anointing you with the oil of joy.”
and righteousness will be the scepter of your kingdom.
9 You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness;
therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions
by anointing you with the oil of joy.”
10 He also says,
“In the beginning, O Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth,
and the heavens are the work of your hands.
11 They will perish, but you remain;
they will all wear out like a garment.
12 You will roll them up like a robe;
like a garment they will be changed.
But you remain the same,
and your years will never end.”
and the heavens are the work of your hands.
11 They will perish, but you remain;
they will all wear out like a garment.
12 You will roll them up like a robe;
like a garment they will be changed.
But you remain the same,
and your years will never end.”
13 To which of the angels did God ever say,
“Sit at my right hand
until I make your enemies
a footstool for your feet”?
until I make your enemies
a footstool for your feet”?
14 Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?

(Keeping It Simple Saint)
(Keeping It Simple Saint)
One thing that I can't stand is making things more complicated than they have to be. At the same time, I don't want to take the important things and trivialize them; therefore, let's try to make these opening statements as simple as possible but do them justice:
G O D S P E A K I N G
- God spoke a lot of times through the ancient prophets.
- When Jesus came, he spoke through him, and this was much better.
- Better because Jesus is God's Son and God's heir of ALL things.
- Better because God made the universe through Jesus.
- Better because Jesus simply radiated God's glory while on the earth.
- Better because Jesus, in human form, exactly represented God's being.
- Better because Jesus sustains all things by God's powerful word.
- Better because Jesus made possible the purification of the human race from all sins.
- Better because, once Jesus did this, he sat next to God, majestically, in Heaven
- No one else even comes close to Jesus on being God's spokesperson.
But What About Angels?
Not only is Jesus the better - and far superior - speaker about the matters of God's covenant making with you, Jesus has everyone beat, even Angels. You may ask,"Are you sure?" I am indeed sure. "But Angels were used by God all throughout the Bible. Why, they were even present when Mary learned she was going to become impregnated by God. And didn't angels accompany the birth of Jesus himself?" They sure did. However, you need only examine the scripture lesson above. When you do, you will see precisely why Jesus is light years ahead of Angels in telling this grand and glorious story.
Look at the pure logic of the Hebrew writers: First, God never told an Angel that he was God's son and God was his Father, as God told Jesus. (Verse 5.) God even told the Angels to worship Jesus, God's first born Son. HE never did this to the Angels. (Verse 6.) God does give a special authority to Angels in verse 7; God calls them, "Winds and servant flame of fire." BUT take a look at what God says about HIS Son. He talks about the Son's eternal throne, and HE talks about the Son's kingdom scepter being righteousness. I simply have to repeat verse 9:
9 You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness;
therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions
by anointing you with the oil of joy.”
therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions
by anointing you with the oil of joy.”
God never said such things to Angels ... ever.
In the next few verses, God get's really explicit explaining the importance of Jesus being the most important spokesman for His covenant with you: He talked about Jesus laying the foundations of the world, and that Jesus' own hands were the hands created all the heavens. God describes Jesus as eternal, while the creation he made would wear out. And God even said that, one day, Jesus would roll up creation like a robe and change creation. God then contrasts Jesus with creation by saying Jesus, unlike creation, would remain the same, and that Jesus years would NEVER end.
There is one other difference that God highlighted between the best of the best, Jesus, and Angels. HE asked a question: To which Angel did God ever say "Sit here at my right hand so I can make your enemies a footstool for your feet." The answer is clear. God only did this for Jesus and Jesus alone.
This passage closes out with a very special sentence that tells us the purpose of Angels. It might surprise you what that purpose it? It has to do with a very special relationship they have with us, as well as their purpose. Let me re quote this verse 14:
14 Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?
While it is true, angels do not measure up to being God's spokespersons for the important task of telling you and me the very special story about God's covenant relationship with you and me, Angels do have a special place in God's plan. They are, all of them, ministering spirits. And they are sent as servants of those of us who inherit the Salvation made possible by this Eternal Life Covenant God. The children of God, the people who experience God's salvation, have Angels watching over them every move each one makes and each one takes. It is what Angels do. It is their ministry. As an aside, it really is too bad some reading this today have become too "modern" to make God's Angels a part of their lives.
Well, that's all for this chapter. Come back next time. If you follow me here at www.chaplainmac.com , you will be notified of each new episode. I really do want you to take part in God's Eternal Life Covenant. More importantly the true and living Almighty God, really wants no one to be left out or left behind ... especially you.
