God Is My Portion. HE is MORE Than Enough for Your Stuff
Pork Chops & God:
When I was a child, I remember every one of us sitting around the kitchen table. Mom and Dad were sitting at either end of the table, and if I remember correctly, the three boys sat on one side, and the girls sat on the other side. I remember reading a comic strip called "Little Abner." He actually was a big muscular guy wearing overalls. And I remember he was sitting at a table, all by himself, with a stack of pork chops on a plate. He had all the pork chops to himself. I actually imagined what it would be like having those pork chops to myself.
Some Time Later:
It wasn't long until I had my own pork chop experience: One particular day, we had pork chops, with the vegetable's fixings, and we had some really good southern sweet tea. Right in front of me - sitting on that table - was a big ole stack of pork chops. I counted eight of them. And I was hungry; however, by the time all eight of us had our portion, we got 1 pork chop a piece. It was definitely not a Little Abner moment. Now, of course, none of us starved, and the fried okra, squash and southern green beans were more than filling. At the same time that big family portion shrank to a small portion.
In my last blog, I talked about how my health and heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart. And HE is my portion. Well, my health and heart have failed; nevertheless, God is the strength of my heart, and HE is indeed my portion. I guess that's why folks call me a "Walking Miracle."
You see, when the Creator is your portion, and when you actually know HIM, through HIS Son, our Lord and Savior Jesus, who is the Christ, and as HE portions out HIS Holy Spirit, I am a witness: This God Portion doesn't shrink. It is NOT small. God's portion that addresses your heart, your health, your grief, your trauma, your trouble, your brokenness and your pain is perfectly fitted to whatever you are experiencing. And it doesn't matter what circumstances seem to be right in front of you. HE is more than enough for all of your stuff.
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
I come to YOU seeking YOU as my strength and portion.
Today, I choose to let go and get out of YOUR way.
I choose to let YOU God be my portion.
I choose to trust you to portion out what I need so I can still represent YOU as an Ambassador of Christ, by the power of the Holy Spirit.
I pray this in Jesus Name.
AMEN
PS: Don't be limited in your journey. Let God be your portion.
