Totally Righteous
Therefore, being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Romans 5:1
Paul
One of the most difficult things for Christ-Followers to understand is how God makes us holy, without blemish and free from all accusation, if we continue in the faith not moved from the hope held out in the gospel. (Colossians 1:22-23) We get so wrapped up in trying to succeed and "measure up" according to our culture's rules that we lose sight of one of the greatest, if not the greatest, miracles in each of our lives. If we do indeed place our faith in Jesus, we immediately have peace with God. We have this peace because Jesus empowers you and me to be people whom God "justifies." We are people whom God considers as totally righteous. In God's sight, we are therefore considered perfect. (Hebrews 10:14 NIV) Needless to say, we don't have to continually keep striving and stressing. We can experience God's rest in Christ. (Hebrews 4:9-10 NIV)
This does not mean we are in a state where we will never fail or sin. We might do so; however, under this wonderful new and eternal covenant God does not count our sins against us anymore. He chooses to do so because Jesus took those sins upon himself, and He buried them once and eternally for all. He rose from the dead so that we can live in His resurrection power. (Ephesians 1:19-23) In other words, Christ-Followers or believers have in us the same power that was exerted when God raised Jesus from the dead. By this same resurrection power, He transforms us to be more like Jesus each new day.
One persons was once asked "What is justification like?" He responded that, "because God has justified me, He is looking at me Just As If I Never Sinned." Now that is totally righteous.
