What does it mean: Part One?

What Does It Mean: Part One? Then Jesus said to His disciples , “If anyone will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. Matthew 16:24   A Profound Teaching of Jesus Jesus, in this teaching, is making profound statements: He is spelling out clearly what He expects of people who wish to know Him as Savior, and also know Him as Lord; therefore, it is vital we, who want eternal life, be clear on precisely what Jesus means as He declares this big “IF” that makes possible for human beings to truly be Christ Followers and reap the glorious benefits of Eternal Salvation. In the coming blogs, we will share together what this big “IF” means. We will discuss what denying ourselves means, and then we will look at what following Him means, and how important it is to really understand what His teachings say to us in Matthew 16:24. What Is the Big Deal About These Six Words? Jesus is talking to men who are in the process of leaving their ol...

R.E.S.T: Becoming

R ock-solid   E ternal   S pirituality   T oday:   BECOMING Psalm 127:1 Amplified Unless the Lord builds   the house, anyone attempting to build it their way, in their strength, using only their mere human skill, is really wasting God’s, and their, time trying to build it. It won’t happen. If the Lord is not, Himself, guarding it, and protecting it,   and people try to be the guards, they will fail miserably. IN MY LIFE: In my life, I have learned the importance of abiding in Christ, and He in me. Jesus describes this relationship, with Him, as being like a branch that is a part of a vine. The branch absolutely cannot be alive, nor can it produce fruit, apart from the vine. Therefore, Jesus strongly declares absolute truth: “Apart from me you can do NO-thing!” Something to Consider Consider this, in light of building a home, a life, a relationship, a family, a church, a nation or a culture: Based on the Jesus “ Vineyard Principle ” above, and the emp...

Love-- Life -- Longevity

Image
Psalm 34:12-14 (12) Whoever of you loves life and desires to see many good days (13) keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from telling lies. (14) Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it. Do you want to love? Do you want to love being alive? Do you want to see many good days? That is, do you want longevity?  All of these are good questions. And the answers are filled out, in simple form, here for everyone to see. Yes, this ancient wisdom has some really good answers for 21s Century life questions:  For Whom Are These Promises? Let me say, before I proceed, that these are promises for God's people. And by God's people, I mean people who are Christ Followers. I mean that these are for people who actually deny ourselves, turn from our sinful ways, to follow Jesus sincerely daily.  This self denial, and Christ Following, are precisely how Jesus declares what believing in Him really means. For Jesus described what believing in Him actually looks like wh...

The Authentic Eternal Hierarchy of Needs:

Image
Hi Again, For some reason I have been thinking today about Abraham Maslow's Hierarchy of needs. Many therapist, since the 1940s, have bought into these. What does Maslow say, in order of importance, are the needs of human beings? I have heard that a picture is worth a thousand words. So, rather than go into detail of what this man said, and which many have truly bought into, let's check out the Maslow graphic I have provided.  This all seems simple, and it appears self evident. Another Viewpoint I have another viewpoint that addresses the eternal. Maslow only deals with the temporal here and now, and doesn't take an individual beyond the realm of these very limited years of existence, related to the human body, that is weak, grows stronger, becomes weak, and then it dies.  I want to mention what I believe are God's Hierarchy of Needs:   Spiritual What is foundational, to me, starts with the Spiritual. If our spirit is dead, and not brought to life through faith...

Seven Beautiful Ways God Relates To You

The Lord God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you, in his love he will no longer rebuke you for your sin,  but he will rejoice over you with singing. Zephaniah 3:17 I love thinking out how God relates to we who are mere mortals, even as He is the Holy, Almighty, Eternal Exalted God that created the Universe, including every Atom. Even though He designed it perfectly for all life, and sustains it every second of every moment of every hour of every day, He continually wishes to let us know how much He wants to relate to you and me.  Oddly enough we see some really great information that comes from an Old Testament Prophet named Zephaniah.  Check this out. Here are seven ways that God relates to you and me that I find interesting, and I find very comforting and exciting:  First, with all the craziness that is going on in the world today, we see, "The Lord God IS." Just the fact that God IS makes it clear that we are not alo...
