A Christ Follower: The Journey

Years ago, I was cutting grass. I noticed a rock close by the lawn mower, and it was almost as if I had heard a voice telling me, "Don't Touch That! " Well I did not listen, and I bent down to retrieve the rock, and apparently another one came flying out from under the lawn more. It hit me squarely on my left eye, and my eyesight faded immediately to white in that eye.  I couldn't see anything through that eye. My beloved drove me to the "Eye Foundation" hospital in Birmingham where all this story is a matter of record.  When I went into the ER there, I saw a Doctor Turnbull.  He was a part of a team of doctors, Turnbull and McCoy. After he examined me, he told both my wife and me, "be grateful you have one eye." Now that was not encouraging. Dear Heavenly Father,  I honor You as my sovereign Lord. I acknowledge that You are always present with me. You are the only all-powerful and wise God. You are kind and loving in all Your ways. Praying This For A Special One Who Needs The "Six" Covered SoJourner

Hi Y'all, Well we made it through the storm aka Irma. And we did some serious praying before, during, after and presently praying; however, once again I have learned the importance of really being specific in your prayer, saying what you mean and meaning what you say. Here is an example from a few years back.  Some of you remember Hurricane Hugo of a few decades ago.  Well I prayed about that like I do now.  I always acknowledge that God rules the winds, waves and rain... or something like that ... and that God is always Sovereign God who can answer "Yes" or "No" to our prayers because He knows best.  I pray for things like weather fronts steering it. I pray for God to provide upper level disturbances. I pray for windshear to weaken the storm, etc.  Well, during hugo all that happened. However, and yet, up north in NC, on the UMC web site, they were praying, when they saw Hugo coming their way,  for God to "Keep Us In The Midst of The Storm!"  ...

Creator God, We humbly bow before You, knowing full well that you still rule over the winds and the rain. We also know that You can tell us "no" as well as "yes." You know the big picture far better than we mere human beings; however, either way, we acknowledge you as God, and You certainly do rule over a hurricane named Irma . Its birth did not surprise you.  Its present state is not too big for You. Then too, You will still be God, and in control, after Irma has dissipated into a rainstorm, and then a gentle rain, until it is no more. The weather media, as You know, Lord, are indicating that this storm is a MONSTER storm. And they are saying it may just come right up the Florida peninsula, either to the east or to the west. Only You know for sure.  We pray that the land mass it encounters will weaken it. We pray that dry air, upper level disturbances and powerful windsheer would damage it. Now, these may not be her exact words; however, I think that I have the spirit of her question .   I responded to her, "He wants us to love one another, but we don't seem to be cooperating with him." Her question is perhaps one of the most important questions any person of faith should be asking right now.  I would only extend her question to ask, "What does God want of me ."  After all, the only person I can come close to having control over is me, myself and I.  And there is no way I can control ...
