COUNT ON IT.

For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through Him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God. 2 Cor. 1:20     Lately it has been kind of hard to depend on people's promises.  I am especially thinking about our leaders who promised to uphold the Constitution of The United States of America.  As a result they are, along with the decline in morality, destroying our nation.  Yup! these politicians make promises alright, but they simply don't keep them.   I am also thinking about the time when folks made deals with a hand shake, and there was never a problem, but very few... if any... would dare make such agreements by merely clasping hands together and shaking them up and down.   There is one thing I know is true.  When God makes a promise, it is the same as God saying "Count on it."  Oh, He may not answer in the way I can understand and want, when I look at a promise for answers....

CHRIST FOLLOWERS TRULY CHRISTIAN MEDITATION

All throughout the Holy Scriptures we are given guidance to meditation with promises that tell us such things as "This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate about it both day and night. Then, when you do so, you will make your way prosperous and successful." Joshua 1:8.    In another place, we are encouraged to meditate on noble, pure, good and righteous or positive things of God so that the "God of Peace will abide with us."   Philippians 4:8. Here is one more.  In Psalm 46 we hear these words: " Be still and experience God. "   Sadly the Christian Church has let this kind of "prayer"  be overwhelmed with talking.  That is we talk to God, and then God is expected to listen.  Now don't get me wrong.  There is nothing wrong with talking to or with God.  Indeed, doing so is really a good thing; however, with our not encouraging meditation, those who are not Christ-Followers, fill the vacuum that...

Prayers For Pastor Saeed Imprisoned In Iran

Yesterday, 9/28/13, was a day of prayer for Pastor Saeed, an American pastor imprisoned in Iran for his Christian faith. Across the nation – across the world – men and women asked God for His mercy, to save Pastor Saeed: Members of The American Center for Law and Justice team knelt in prayer in Washington next to Senator Ted Cruz. In Idaho, friends and neighbors prayed with Pastor Saeed's family. In Russia, in Brazil, in Israel, and elsewhere, people prayed for Pastor Saeed. Leaders like Reverend Billy Graham, Sarah Palin, Mike Huckabee, Senator Lindsey Graham, Representative Trent Franks, Greta VanSusteren, and many Members of Congress spoke out for Pastor Saeed.   Let Me Challenge You To Please Pray and Continue To Pray.   Sojourner

Perfect Peace

The Lord will keep in perfect peace the mind of the person who is consistently focused on HIM.   Isaiah 26:3   What are you thinking about?  Problems? Liabilities? weaknesses? struggles, etc.?  If you are, there is a good chance that such a focus will result in anxiety, doubt and even fear.   Ever so often I have a bout with "stinking thinking" like this, but I have learned to daily get dressed and put on the Lord Jesus first thing in the morning... I mean right about the time my eyes open.  How do you do this "putting on the Lord."  Paul says in Romans 13:14 that we do this by putting on God's armor.  This is described in Ephesians 6:10-20. And in this passage, it is promised that you become "Strong in the Lord and His almighty power" when you armor up.  It is also promised that you are able to stand against the Devils schemes.   So, I throw off the stuff that tells me not to do this, and I have made it my ritual to...

A Portrait of Peace

Given all the challenges God’s people and the world, I wonder sometimes how we might find peace.   Then I remembered a story, whose author is unknown.   I would like to share it with you:    “There was once a King who offered a prize to the artist who would paint the best picture of peace. Many artists tried, and the King evaluated them all. After much deliberation the King was down to the last two. He had to make a choice.   The two were similar but different: Picture number one portrayed a calm lake that was a perfect mirror of snowcapped mountains that towered around the lake. Overhead fluffy white clouds floated in a blue sky. Everyone who saw this picture said that it was the perfect picture of peace. Picture number two portrayed mountains as well; however, the mountains were rugged and bare. Above was an angry dark sky with lightning flashing. Rain pelted the earth. Down the side of the mountain was a foaming water fall. A storm was cl...

Naked Saints; Put Your Clothes On, Please :)

Clothing ourselves "In Christ" is the way to be empowered to be Christ Followers.  Below is a prayer of surrender that I have written for all who read it to start of their day beginning with Christ.   Putting On The Armor Of God or Clothing Myself In Christ. John 15:5b, Ephesians 6:10-20,    Romans 13:11-12,     2 Cor. 10:4-5 Dear Lord Jesus, Son of The Living God, apart from YOU I can do NO-thing: So, I want to surrender my life to YOU in order that I can be strong in YOU today, and in YOUR mighty power.   Therefore, I cloth myself in YOU,   as I put on the full Armor of God , put off the old “man” and put on the new.   I surrender to YOU   because I want to be able to stand against the Devil's schemes. I surrender to YOU to be made sane, saintly, well and whole. I surrender to YOU so my will and YOURS will be one. I surrender to YOU so that my life will be transformed today.   Thank YOU for this spiritual wea...

The Word Of God: God's Breath

All scripture is God breathed. 2 Timothy 3:16   The so-called "higher critics" will laugh at what I am about to say, but after years of considering their "higher" criticisms, I have concluded that it simply does not work when you can philosophy about the Holy Christian Scriptures until they have virtually no importance compared to what God clearly intended through His Word. Now to the discussion at hand:   Paul is talking to Timothy, and he is saying God breathes the Word.  That seems to be a good thing because, whenever and wherever the Holy Word talks about breathing,  something or someone comes to life... real life.    God's breath is a life giving thing: God breathed into "man" (defined in one Genesis Scripture as male and female) the breath of life, and "man" "became."  "Man" did not stay the same, but was impacted positively and forever becoming a "living soul."  There are other places where...
