Walking in THE TRUTH: Walking In Freedom

"Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist…" (Ephesians 6:14a)

When we get dressed, and clothe ourselves in Christ, or when we put on the “Armor of God,” we begin with THE Truth, and it is pictured here as a belt—something that secures and holds everything together. Just as a soldier’s belt kept their armor in place, the truth stabilizes the Christ follower’s life. Jesus is “THE WAY, THE Truth and THE Life.” Without truth, “or without Jesus, everything else becomes loose and vulnerable. We wear “THE TRUTH” when we live by TRUTH, when we are guided and governed by “The Word of Truth;" additionally, The “SPIRIT of Truth” ( Holy Spirit)gives us power to walk in The TRUTH. Finally, when we adhere to Jesus’s teachings, or when we assimilate them into our lives, we become delivered from bondage to sin and death. (See John 8:31-36)  Jesus makes us truly FREE!

Dealing with The Liar

Jesus described Satan as “a liar, and the father of ALL lies.” He went on to say, in John 8:44, "When he lies, he speaks his native language."  Satan is defeated, but when he lies to us, and we consider his lies,  he can keep us from walking and being strong in the Lord. BUT he cannot do this if we measure the thoughts, and the words, we are getting from the world, the flesh and the Devil against THE Truth. Victory is ours, if we choose THE Truth over the lie. And lies are contrary to the Word of Truth, The Spirit of Truth, Jesus and HIS teachings. You can count on it.

  • THE Truth ground us: It keeps us from being swayed by lies or confusion propagated by Satan and his crowd.

  • THE Truth strengthens us: It gives us confidence to stand firm when challenges come.

  • THE Truth frees us: Jesus said, “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32).

When we buckle on truth each day—God’s truth revealed in His Word, The SPIRIT, and Jesus and Jesus teachings—we are equipped to walk with integrity, resist deception, and stand firm in faith.

Considering all this, let us be especially ready to overcome any lies when we are sick, or a loved one is facing health challenges, or family issues throw us off balance, or when we are caught off guard -- in anyway-- by obstacles causing us to stumble. Why? Because, when these kind of things happen, that is when the world, the flesh, and the Devil himself try real hard to get us to not trust God.

Prayer:

Lord, today, I surrender, and I choose to walk in THE Truth. Right now, I fasten Your truth around my life today. I trust THE TRUTH. I trust Jesus to hold me steady, and guide my steps, by the power of The Holy Spirit, and keep me faithful and free. I reject, in Jesus name, any lie of the world, the flesh or the Devil, when I am challenged to not hold tightly to the truth.

I pray this, in the name above all names, even Jesus.

Amen.
