God's Will: God's Number ONE Purpose, Number ONE Desire or Number ONE WILL!

 


Philippians 2:9-11
Therefore, God exalted  Him to the highest place and gave Him a name that is above every name! That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in Heaven and on Earth, and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is LORD, to the glory of God the Father.

As we think about living according to God's will, yes, as we consider all we have been saying in this series of blogs, we need to get up, wake up, and dress up.  We need to be made strong in the Lord. We need to do what we can. We need to rejoice, pray and be thankful. We need to let God embrace us as His adopted child. We need to become transforming non conformist. We need to live Holy lives. And there are many other things God reveals as His will: BUT none of these can happen,  in anyway that would matter to God, without each of us living according to God's number one purpose, desire or will that He has for us.

Why?

If you take a gander at our scripture lesson, you will see Jesus is provided a  most high spot, by our Heavenly Father, in the entire universe.  And this passage starts out with the adverb "therefore." And it's pointing back to a very important reason why Jesus is seated in such a Holy Seat of Honor. First, He didn't take advantage of the fact that equality with God was in His grasp. As a matter of fact, "He made himself nothing!" He took on the nature of a servant. He gave up His Heavenly authority to  become a mere human being.  And He became just a simple human being who gave it all up, in obedience to the Father, to die on the cross.

What's Going To Happen?

Since Jesus gave everything up, what God intended to happen before the creation of creation, before Adam and Eve sinned, before Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, before the Law's and The Prophets, God determined this number one purpose, desire and will.

  1. God set into motion THE Plan (Ephesian 1:11)
  2. God exalted Jesus to the Highest Place!
  3. God gave Jesus the Name that is Above EVERY NAME!
  4. That at Jesus's name Every Knee shall bow!
  5. That at the Jesus's name Every Tongue shall confess!
  6. **That Jesus Christ is LORD to the Glory of God!!!
  7. Includes every knee in Heaven: All Angels & Heavenly Hosts.
  8. Includes every knee of everyone on Earth.
  9. Includes the Devil himself & demons & evil spirits.
  10. Each one will do so now! Or we will do so when it won't help!
Needless to say, God has a lot of things that He wants for us. Each one of these 10 things listed above could be a subject of another time together discussing these. And, God willing, I may share these as the LORD leads. Because there's nothing better than learning to live according to God's will. Hallelujah! Indeed, He has many things He wants for creation, but nothing is more important for creation's creatures than bowing down, once and for all, and make Jesus LORD.  He's not talking about a little old plain non committal mental assertion either. He is talking about selling out and making Jesus LORD!

Prayer of Surrender To God's Ultimate Will

Dear God

 Thank You for Your love, mercy and grace. Thank You for this opportunity to make Jesus my LORD. I come to turn away from my sin as I repent.  I ask for Your forgiveness for my sins. I want You to be in control of me as I receive Jesus into may life as Lord, and as my Savior. 

Please, guide me, as I walk with You. Please, order my steps: Baptize me, and fill me, with Your Holy Spirit. Teach me to follow You every day, one day at a time. Help me to trust You completely. Help me to  share Your good new about salvation through your Son, Jesus. Help me to daily abide with You  and  love You with all my heart, soul, mind and strength. Help me to love  others as I love myself.

In Jesus Name, The Name that is above ALL Names 
I pray.

Hurricane Helene: Why Do Bad Things Happen To Good People

The Conference &   Hurricane Just a few days ago, the Global Methodist Church met in it's inaugural General Conference.  I viewed it by live streaming, and I can tell you it was a great time of joy, celebration and the building of a brand new faith community! The Holy Spirit moved in a very special way during everyday of the General Conference. This was a mountain top experience. Such a spiritual high as this would long be remembered by all who attended. But As the conference was coming to a close, and as these folks returned home, a Hurricane hit Florida, then Georgia, Then South Carolina, Then North Carolina!
