Discovering God's Will and Becoming The Miracle of A Transforming and Non Conforming Mind
Therefore, brothers and sisters,
I urge you, in view of God's mercy,
that you present your bodies as a living sacrifice,
holy and acceptable unto God --
This is your spiritual act of worship.
Don't conform to the world's pattern of living,
but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Then, you will be able to test and approve of God's Will --
HIS good pleasing and perfect will.
The Merciful God
As we continue our journey of discovering how to live according to God's will, we come to a spiritual practice that God -- because HE is merciful -- gives us to practice each day. Paul talks about God's mercy because, in Chapter 11, he closed with a beautiful, and very powerful benediction, describing Almighty God: Then he tells us mere humans to listen to such a mighty God who is truly merciful. Why? Because it is only because the Greatest ONE is merciful that HE gives us this opportunity to become the miracle of becoming transformed! And because we are transformed, we able to overcome "the world" system.
This Is Urgent
This spiritual practice is urgent. Paul says, "I urge you!" I don't recall the Apostle Paul being so exclamatory about anything. Yes, God is merciful to call you and me to practice this miracle resultant spiritual practice. And since our merciful God clearly wants His children to do this as a part of HIS will, Paul is encouraging us to not be lackadaisical about this. This is something Paul, as Christ's Ambassador, is yearning for us to do. He is strongly encouraging us to take this seriously. He is spurring us on to not fail to accomplish this clearly spelled out spiritual practice that IS the will of God. The Holy Spirit, through Paul, is giving us a holy nudge to be sure we make this a priority of our daily lives.
Spelling Out This Simple Spiritual Practice
We begin by making a present of ourselves to God. HE already gave Himself to us, and now HE wants us to present ourselves to HIM by turning ourselves over to God as a "living sacrifice." We don't need to be timid about out. Why? Because, HE declares, as we surrender like this, HE views us as being "holy." He sees us as being acceptable. HE is receiving it as a "spiritual act of worship." WOW! Indeed, we are worshipping HIM in Spirit and in Truth! A miracle begins to happening, in the Spiritual Realm, which will be realized in you and me in the earthly realm! We receive the power to NOT be conformed to the world system. We can live according to God's will. We can actually know God's will as we make decisions. We can actually see that God's will truly is good. It's definitely pleasing. AND it is perfect. Each time we practice this practice, God empowers this same Heavenly outcome! Hallelujah!
A Sample of How To
Almighty God,
I offer my body, my whole self, to YOU.
I worship YOU.
I offer my body, my whole self, to YOU.
I worship YOU.
Please, as YOU have promised, receive this
as my spiritual act of worship.
I praise You that YOU are receiving me!
I praise YOU that, in YOUR View,
I am holy and acceptable.
As I surrender, LORD, help me!
I don't want to be conformed to the ways of
the world, the flesh or the Devil,
I embrace the transformation of my mind.
YOU say we have the mind of Christ.
Let us think like Jesus.
And let us know what YOUR will is.
Let us take hold of, and continue to hold on to, the truth
that YOUR will is good.
It is pleasing.
It is perfect.
