Refuge VI: Powerful Stillness

"Be Still And Know That I Am God."
David --Psalm 46:10

Sometimes life comes at you too fast! You hurry and you go! You get faster and faster and faster!  Where you stop nobody knows! The pressure can be so much that you are churning from the outside into the inside out.  You can not catch up, and you could just scream and shout! Spiritual problems, emotional problems, relational problems, financial problems and physical problems may come at you quickly one at a time or all at once. Life, as it did with David, literally begins to shake rattle and roll. You can't eat. Or you eat too much.  Your stomach is in knots.  The anxiety builds and the tears flow.  A sense of being abandoned and lost may not seem to be ever going to let you go. It can be  downright overwhelming, and you just want to roar "STOP!"

This is how it was with David as he wrote the words I have shared in this blog.  Now he comes to a powerful place that would surprise many who think they need to keep charging.  It's a place where he does indeed "stop."  He sits quietly.  Or he stands quietly. He listens to God as He whispers ever so softly ...  "Be still..." ... "Know".... "That I am God." Indeed he exemplifies something for you and me: He exemplifies a spiritual practice that I strongly recommend you follow, and which I have followed many times. He relaxes himself.  He quiets himself, and he does some self talk or soul talk.  He tells himself to be still and "know" or experience God.  He actually hears God's voice as you hear it now through the Holy Bible.  "If you are still, you will experience ME in the midst of all that is going on, and in the midst of any tragedy."

Being still helps David experience just how big God really is. He becomes aware of a God who is exalted.  Yes, He is exalted above the nations.  He is exalted above the earth.  In other words, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and David -- whose God is God the Father  of the Messiah -- who is Jesus -- is bigger than the mere nation you live in.  He is bigger than this microscopic, molecule called earth that rotates around a speck in the universe that we call the sun.  Needless to say, He is bigger that anything and everything you face or cannot face by yourself.  And if you will slow down, be still, be quiet and experience God, there is a good chance you will find yourself doing much better. Circumstance may not have changed but you have changed.

Scroll down through the past six blogs. Intentionally follow David's example of being in Refuge.  Then be blessed 2day, Especially Today.
