Jesus the Teacher
Looking Back To Have A FutureYou may notice, as I have blogged about "Stepping Stones For Victorious Christ Centered Living, I have been sharing in reverse. I started with Jesus in Matthew 7 looking back at all He taught in "The Sermon On The Mount." You will remember, as He looked back at His teachings, He tells us, that if we hear His words, and actually live by them, we are like people who build our lives on a solid foundation that will withstand all kinds of storms we will face in life; however, if we only hear them, but don't abide by them, we are like people who are living on a quicksand foundation.
Therefore, we backed up with Jesus, hoping to provide you with the kind of foundation for your life that will help you have life, and have it to the full, no matter what you are facing in life. And I don't know what you are going through, but I know, if you walk on these stepping stones about which I have been writing, and if you do so by faith, God will not only bring you to whatever life deals out to you, but He will bring you through whatever you are called on to face.
Now, we are in Chapter 5:1-12, where Jesus began His teaching: These are the teachings where He teaches people how God, the Father, describes authentic blessings.
The Beatitudes Or
God's Teachings About Supreme Blessedness.
Picture you are in a place of supreme blessedness. Imagine Jesus is speaking with you about what we call "The Beatitudes." To make my request another way, let me ask you to imagine, what beatitudes actually are, and that is God's teachings About Supreme Blessedness. As you imagine, please listen in your spirit as I share with you Matthew 5:1-12. Some of these things are difficult to understand, especially, if you are not listening to what the Holy Spirit is saying to you as His Christ-Following Church.
Books have been written about each of these descriptions Jesus is giving about these supreme blessedness descriptions. And I suppose many more can be written; however, I am going to do my best to K.I.S.S: Keep It Simple Saint. I am going to simply read the words of Jesus as they are with as brief a comment as possible, and as you are, with spiritual eyes, using your imagination, you will hear what you need to hear to walk on the Lord's Stepping Stones for Victorious Christ Centered Living. All scripture today is from the Amplified Bible to help you gain clairity.
Hear The Word of The Lord.
1.Now, when Jesus saw the crowd, He went up on a mountainside, and sat down.
2. His disciples came to Him, and He began to teach them:
3. Blessed {spiritually prosperous, happy, to be admired}are the poor in spirit {those devoid of spiritual arrogance, those who regard themselves as insignificant without God} For theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven. {both now and forever.} {Luke 6:20-23}
4. Blessed {forgiven, refreshed by God's grace}are those who mourn {over their sins and repent}, for they will be comforted {when the burden of sin is lifted {Isaiah.61:2)
5. Blessed {inwardly peaceful, spiritually secure, worthy of respect} are the gentle {the kind hearted, the sweet spirited the self-controlled} for they will inherit the earth. {Psalm 37:11}
6. Blessed, {joyful, nourished by God's goodness} are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness {those who intentionally, and actively, seek right standing with God}, for they will be {completely}satisfied. {Isaiah 55:1-2}
7. Blessed {content, sheltered by God's promises} are the merciful, for they will receive mercy.
8. Blessed {anticipating God's presence, spiritually mature} are the pure in heart {those with integrity, moral courage, and godly character}, for they will see God {Psalm 24: 3-4}
9. Blessed {spiritually calm with life joy in God's favor} are the makers and maintainers of peace, for they will {express His character} and be called the sons of God. {Hebrews 12:14}
10. Blessed, {comforted by inner peace and God's love} are those who are persecuted for doing that which is morally right, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven {both now and forever.}
11. Blessed (morally courageous and spiritually alive with life joy in God's goodness} are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil things against you because of {your association with }me.
12. Be glad and exceedingly joyful, for your reward in heaven is great. {absolutely inexhaustible}; for in this same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you. ( 2 Chronicles 36:16}
E M B R A C E T H E C H A L L E N G E:
The challenge for you and me is to take these prayerfully, and carefully, and examine, and embrace, each one of these Jesus teachings regarding how to experience supreme blessedness, and do this one supreme blessing at a time. Don't hurry. As you consider each one, ask the Holy Spirit to speak to you and flow through you with His ancient wisdom. I suspect, if you rise up and meet this challenge, you will be supremely blessed.
