COMMONALITIES OF A-S-K ing: Stepping Stones For Victorious Christ Centered Living #8
Do You Hear Me Now?
Here's an example: Imagine you call someone on a cell phone, and this person is a dear friend of yours. You really trust them, and you need their help; therefore, after you have been greeted, imagine your friend listens well to your problem. You pour out your soul. You share what you sense. You add to this your various thoughts about what is going on. Emotions may come into the mix. You talk about any goals, or objectives, or desires you have. You may even talk about actions of all people involved, and how you hope folks will act in the future. You really unload on your loving and caring friend. Then, before they can speak, you say, "Thanks for listening. Gotta go," and then you hang up just about the time your friend is going to speak.
This is precisely, how many prayer warriors treat God. Asking, Seeking and Knocking go on and on and on and on and on. But there's no pause at "the end" whereby we are simply taking time to listen to God. What? Do you expect God to call you back? How or why would He want to get back to you if He knows you are not going to listen. There really is a lot of wisdom in what the Psalmist says "Be still and know (experience) God.' (Psalm 46:10) Indeed, this kind of relating to God, where we do all the talking but none of the listening is all too common. But hearing God might just make all the difference in the world in the quality of your life and my life.
Our Important Challenge
If we want to walk on God's "Stepping Stones for Victorious Christ-Centered Living we would do well to:
Listen to God after we have spoken with Him.
