In The Beginning God said, "Let There Be." And Life Happened.
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. (2) Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.(3) And God said, "Let there be ..." Genesis 1:1-3a
If anyone could get a bird's eye view of creation taking place, when it was taking place, they would see a big ole hodgepodge of dark, murky nothingness. They would observe the Holy Spirit hovering above it all being cognizant of all that is going on. The Word would be right there. (John 1:1) And out of this chaos, our loving Creator would be heard speaking to the nothingness, and circumstances changed dramatically: Everything perfectly designed to provide for life came out of chaos. God simply said, "Let there be..." and then there was all sorts of life coming from The Almighty's spoken word, Indeed, God spoke life into existence!
Sometimes, human beings get enveloped in nothingness, brokenness, pain, suffering and overloaded with chaos. Sometimes life comes like a storm, and we need something supernatural to happen. I hear people saying, when this happens, "I am just a big hot mess." Darkness has settled in, and life is more than a little broken. Spiritual issues, emotional issues, relational issues, financial issues, and even physical issues require our loving Creator to speak to our circumstances in a God Creation way!
How about you my Christ Following friend? When life happens, and you simply do not feel you have the stuff to be enough, are you willing to trust God, through Jesus, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to speak to your darkness, to your murkiness, to your emptiness, to your brokenness? Are you willing to open up your heart to Him, and ask Him to "let there be" in order for new life, hope and freedom to occur? You may ask, "Does God even care enough to do so?" Holy Scriptures answers, "YES!" Throughout history we have seen the answer is "Yes." Anyone who has walked with the Lord for a while knows the answer is, "YES!" Therefore, isn't is reasonable to simply ask the Lord to help? "YES!"
After all, God is indeed the Creator God. And if His creation, or creature, is broken, doesn't it make since He can recreate what is broken, and or fix, what needs to be fixed. Can He not bring life and light into, and out of, our darkness? Jesus would answer this way, when He compared Himself to the destroying thief, Satan. "The thief comes only to steal, kill and destroy, but I have come to give you life and to give it to the full."
Don't let Satan win! Why not turn from the sin and broken places, where darkness resides, and look to Jesus. Surrender, each new day to Him, and do this to have a newly created, full and complete life. By faith, let God speak. Let God say to the circumstances surrounding you, "Let there be! And let Him speak lovingly, and with eternal authority, to you. Watch what happens when God speaks in a God creation way to your earthly journey.
