What Does It Mean: Part Two
On October 26th, I began this journey regarding "What Does It Mean?" Please go back and review Part One before reading this on in order to be fully aware of God's vital truth for Christ Followers.
What
Does It Means: Part Two?
“Let him deny himself”
Letting
Self Denial Happen
“If” we want to be Jesus’
Disciple, He begins by saying we are to be men and women who Let something
happen: We let self-denial happen. In other words, we choose to deny ourselves.
What does it mean to deny ourselves? Denying ourselves means to turn from the
ways of the world the flesh and the devil -- or the ways that let me run my
life apart from the Lord and His ways -- and we let the Lord run our
lives. It’s key to let it happen.
If we don’t make the choice to let it happen, then God’s transforming power,
and His grace cannot be involved. Our choice is to give up our lives, as we
have been living them, and deny those ways as a part of our lives, is
imperative.
What
Does This Involve?
This involves turning from
worshipping any God except the true and living God who is the God of Israel,
through His Son, Jesus, by the power of the Holy Spirit. It includes turning
away from the idols of our lives, and in the 21st century, this
includes giving up worshipping the creature rather than the Creator. We can no
longer “be the captain of our fate.” Self-denial entails having a holy
reverence of the name of God, it certainly includes turning away from crude
language that displeases the Lord. It requires giving due honor to our parents.
if we are trying to become otherwise. It demands we do no murder or hatred. It necessitates a pure sexuality: No adultery,
fornications (sex without marriage,) no pornography, no pedophilia, and also homosexuality. It certainly includes we maintain our God
given gender. Stealing cannot be a part of our lives, nor lying nor coveting,
or wanting what others have, that we don’t have, but still trying to get ahold
of it for ourselves.
Wow!
Wow! Are you saying we are
to turn away from any of the things that violates God’s 10 Commandments? I am! And I say this because we have already
broken these laws and stand condemned before God for having done so; however,
the good news is coming in the next blog where God causes miracles to occur!
Let’s let the Big “IF” happen. Let’s deny ourselves, and turn away from our
brokenness and sin(s). Let’s move towards the miracle phase of Jesus powerful
teaching.
God Bless You
