When I Am Afraid

When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.
Psalm 56:3

They had chased him, and were in hot pursuit! Then, they actually seized him! What was he to do? Well, one thing he did was initially be afraid! Read Psalm 56, and you will see this was no laughing matter. He certainly in a fear provoking situation! After all, it was a life threatening experience! But David overcame! He overcame just as we can overcome, as Christ Follower's, today. We can stop being afraid by not placing our trust in our mere abilities or lack thereof. We can trust in God. We can listen to Jesus speak, and we can hear Him give us His loving command, "Fear Not For I Am With You! (Why not try just listening to these 7 words of Jesus when we are afraid?)

There is no question that David was afraid, but again, take a look at this Psalm 56 carefully and prayerfully: Once he came to himself,  David focused his thoughts on something. Or I should say that he focused his thoughts on Some ONE exponentially greater than himself! He praised God! He thanked God! He prayed to God! Even while in the challenges of being chased, captured, imprisoned and being treated fearlessly,  he used his prayer power that connected him with The Almighty Powerful power of  God! This brought him peace. Under the new Covenant for which Jesus bought and paid, when He sacrificed His body and His blood, we have even greater help because we now have the connection with He who is "The Prince of Peace."

Here is a challenge for each of us. Let us follow David's example just in case we ever get afraid. Whenever we are afraid, let us trust in God. If we do, we will be glad we did.

God Bless You,

SoJourner!
