The Most Popular Proverbs (# 1)
Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and don't lean on your own understanding.
Proverbs 3:5
The Trust Factor
I have done some research into the most popular sought after Ancient Wisdom of the Bible. The most sought after is, in my opinion, a really good God direction for everyday living. For it tells us exactly where to place our trust. For Christ Followers, this may not come as a surprise because trusting in God, no matter what happens in life, is like having an eternal and present refuge for each new day; however, we are not talking about just barely placing our faith in Him. It's a, "With ALL your heart" kind of trust. It's betting your whole life on the Creator, through Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior. And while I use the word "betting," I can assure you that this is no gamble. It is, however, one of the most important and safe choices you or I could make. If you have trust issues, or you do not, this is the Ancient Wisdom for your day today.
The Un-Wisdom
Besides telling us where to place our trust, this wonderful word, gives us one other spiritual direction to help stay on the straight and narrow direction. We are also told what is unwise to do: "Lean not own your understanding." This is important because, by comparison to the source of all Wisdom, Knowledge and Understanding, who is infinitely better equipped to see our journey from beginning to end, our finiteness is limited. For God looks at things as one, "Great big eternal now." (Pastor, George Creel.) We, on the other hand, are like a small subatomic particle, resting on a microscopic molecule -- called the Earth -- that rotates around a speck in the Universe -- called the Sun -- which is not even visible to the naked eye elsewhere; meanwhile, God created it all, sustains it all, and He knows it all by name. (Al McGowen aka SoJourner) You can see, when we even attempt to see the difference in God's viewpoint and our little old perspective, there is no comparison.
The Nutshell Take Away
In a nutshell, we are given the wisdom to Totally Trust God and don't lean on our limited information database. Leaning like this would be a huge mistake. Then what? We will talk about that another time; meanwhile, keep trusting, brothers and sisters, and lay off the leaning on your little ole self's way of seeing all that is. Prayerful consideration of these spiritual facts will really help us along our journey. This is especially true if you have tough decisions to make. God wants to help you with your choices, if you let Him. I do hope you will let Him. I know that is precisely what I want to do.
Be Blessed 2day ... Especially Today
