Deliverance From Evil Is Vital: Pray For It!

"Deliver us from all evil."
Jesus

Okay: Here the Son of God is telling us how to pray according to the will of God, and He is saying, "I want you to pray to the Father, and I want you to ask Him to deliver you from evil."  Hmmm? Now this is really an interesting prayer request. Does the Son of God, Jesus, really believe in Evil? Let's check this out:

His Purpose Fulfilled
Take a look at what the "beloved disciple," John said about this: In 1 John 3:8b we see written, "THE reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the Devil's work." Now we know Jesus came to save us (deliver us) from the penalty of our sins. And we know that He is the only name given under Heaven by which we can be saved from this penalty. (Acts 4:12) However, one thing is very clear there is ONE purpose behind it all that is vital to Jesus, and that is He went through all that He endured to destroy the Devil's work. And He definitely succeeded. The Apostle Paul explains, " He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in Him." ( Col. 2:15 ESV) 

Therefore, the Son of God does know all about evil, and He took it to task to defeat it. That is why, as apart of this Jesus Prayer, He gives us some vital life giving wisdom. We would be very smart, indeed, to pray, "God have mercy on me. God have mercy on us. Please, deliver us from all evil."

The Bad Choices of Deceived Students of The Bible.

One thing that sometimes puzzles me is the belief system of the people who say they believe in Jesus, but they don't believe in evil. They don't believe in the Devil, They don't believe in Hell. They don't believe God judges evil. If they don't believe in the Devil, that means they don't believe Jesus when He says of the Devil, "You belong to your father, the Devil, and you want to carry out your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of all lies." John 8:44

Maybe I Am Not Puzzled.
Then, again, I am not puzzled because they are believing things contrary to what the very Son of God teaches. Like the "believers" to whom Jesus was speaking, who were very "religious" people, they actually do not know God as their Father, but Jesus says they have another "father." Jesus identifies him as "the Devil." Therefore, they carry out their father's desires. Jesus says they, like the Devil, are murderers. Many of these so called "liberal" theologians have no problem taking the life of a preborn human being, even up to the due date. Because they don't believe in evil, they certainly cannot hold to the THE truth. There is no truth in the Devil, and there is no truth in these people. Lying comes easy because, as children of the Devil they can lie with the best of them, for their so called "truth" is founded upon the guidance of the father of all lies. There "truth" has nothing to do with the teachings of Jesus "The Way, The Truth and The life."

The Challenge

In this age of moral relativism, where the Secular Humanistic Religion is running rampant, and in this age where worshiping the creature more than the Creator is popular, don't get caught up in a phony belief system. Pray the way Jesus says to pray. Each day, pray this Jesus prayer, but pray it sincerely, and from the heart . Consider all that Jesus is telling you to pray as being according to God's will.  Therefore, the request you make will be given the perfect answers to the prayers you pray. The final request tells us we need God's help. So, let us pray sincerely, for our loved ones, others, and even ourselves, to God Almighty, in Jesus Name, "Deliver us from all evil." Trust God to do the rest.

God really wants to know you as a loving Heavenly Parent, we call "Father." He is in a different place and space, but He visited here on Planet Earth via His Son, Jesus. He does love and understand you and me. He desires to be revered. He has a Kingdom that has come, but though there is the Kingdom that is now, there is also more to come. Not yet all the Kingdom has come. So, ask for it. Pray for God's will to done on Earth just like it is already done in Heaven. Pray for God to supply your needs according to His riches in glory. Seek forgiveness, but be sure to receive the grace to forgive the way you want to be forgiven. Pray for God to give you the ability to be an overcomer, when you are tempted. And, YES, ask for God to deliver you from all evil."  There is power in praying, and there is particular power in praying "The Lord's Prayer."

You see, it's not really about us. It's about God's Kingdom, God's Power, and God's glory.

We Can Be So Much More.

   We Can Be So Much More:  Let us learn about the powerful identity God the Father gives us, through our being IN Christ Jesus by the power of The Holy Spirit. Let us embrace our God given Eternal Inheritance.  ( Ephesians 1:3-14)  Let us get up, each morning and give ourselves up to God. (Romans 12:1-2.)  Let us wake up! And practice Gods practice of putting off the deeds of darkness, of being empowered to behave decently, like people who live in the day time. (Romans 13:11-14) Let us cloth our selves, in Jesus, by putting on the full armor of God each day! This will make us strong in the Lord and in His mighty power, and it will give us all we need to stand against the Devil's schemes. (Ephesians 6:10-20) Let us submit to God, and resist the Devil so he will have to flee from us. (James 4:7) Learn all we can about the enemy and know he has no authority over us.
