Who Are You I.D. #1

Identity One

But as many as received Him (Jesus) to them He gave
the power to become
Children of God.
John

As we start looking at your identity and my identity, we see that your identity and mine are based on what God made possible by giving power. If you take time to read John 1:1-12, you will read one of the "Christmas" stories written as only John could write it. No there are no mangers scenes, sheep, shepherds, stables not even Mary or Joseph. You will notice it's a story about the actual beginning of time and how God and Jesus (the Word) are intimate and one, and how God (Jesus) is the God who is with us. God became flesh and dwelt among us for a while.  WOW!

Now, there is a sadness in this story because, even though Jesus is described here as being with God and is God, He is also talked about as being on a mission for the benefit of God's covenant people; yet, they "did not receive him." They failed in claiming the blessings of their own identity. Yes, this is sad, but not all is lost. For God also was giving away power that day to you and me. No we were not of the Jewish nation; nevertheless, He was thinking about you and me all the while.

You see, they may not have wanted Jesus. Too bad so sad. BUT you wanted Him,  and I wanted Him, and we received Jesus into our hearts by faith. When we opened our hearts to receive Jesus into our lives,  a miracle of our identity was powerfully placed inside of us. Our spirits were resurrected, and this spirit -- which each of us experienced coming to life -- is the part of us that provides us with the ability to walk with God. It's your spirit and my spirit that make each of us conscious of God.  The minute we received Jesus,  God gave us power to become! This uniting of God's spirit with the human spirit gave us the power to become children of God! Yes, we call this being born again because we became fully alive spiritual beings!

No matter what the circumstances, we are now accepted by God to be children of the true and living God!  Hallelujah! No matter how we feel, we are children of God by God's power! No matter how our day is going, we are children of God because God gives us the power to do so! We have this children of God power on the mountain, in the valley and along the plain of every day life. We are NO longer children who don't know God who are the children of the Devil! We are Children of God!  AND we are children of God through NO power of our own! We are simply connected to God because God came to His own and they didn't receive Him, but because we did receive Him, we are now walking and resurrected miracle children of God!

Take a few minutes to sit still and breath in the breath of life, and do some positive self talk or soul talk: Gently speak to your soul and repeatedly say "Be thankful to God, my soul,  For I have received the powerful  privilege of receiving Jesus, the Son of God who is  one with God,  and of becoming a child of God; therefore, I am truly alive,  and I am accepted by God!"  Keep this particular blog on your smartphone, if you have one, and review the italicized words. Set your watch to alarm every hour, if you have such a watch, and repeat this spiritual excise throughout the day many times in the day. This is what we call "praying without ceasing" or "continually praying." If you do not have a smartphone or watch,  that has an alarm, whenever the Holy Spirit reminds you, just say, "Thank you Lord for giving me power to be a child of God and for accepting me." Each of these spiritual practices are good for you spiritual health.

Practice God's presence in these ways, and then you will be blessed today... especially today.
