Baptist Puppies :+)
I pray that the eyes of your heart would be enlightened.
Ephesians 1:18
I remember the story about a boy who was rolling down the street with his little red wagon close behind. In the wagon, he had a litter of newly born puppies, and needless to say, the mother was right there following quickly behind, and she was no doubt concerned about her babies. As the innocent child walked down the street, he saw the local Baptist preacher. The preacher said, "I see you have some nice 'Baptist' puppies." The little boy nodded his head politely, smiled and he continued down the road with the mother dog keeping close watch over her children.
About six weeks passed and the puppies were far more active. Now they actually followed behind the little boy, and so did the mother. Happiness was all over the boys face. Mama dog didn't look near as anxious. The same Baptist preacher strolled by, and he asked, "How are those 'Baptist' puppies doing?" The young boy looked up, smiled, and he said, in the southern dialect of his parents, "Them ain't no Baptist puppies Preacher. They are Methodist. Can't you see they done got their eyes open." I know. This is sort of a bad joke; however, it does lead us to something spiritually important:
Paul is praying in Ephesians 1:18 above, that our eyes would also be opened but in a more profound way: He is praying for our eyes to see something very special God gives to His children. Read all the surrounding verses, and you will see that he is praying that the eyes of the hearts of God's people will be open so that they will better know the "the hope to which God calls us." This hope, he goes on to say includes "The riches of the glorious inheritance of the saints." (God's people.) That's right, he is wanting God's people to see the rich and glorious inheritance with which each child of God is gifted. Sadly, I am unsure how many "saints" appreciate this phenomenal truth.
That is why, today, I write this blog and pray this same prayer for each member of my family. And I pray it today for anyone who reads this blog. Dear one, if you are a Christ-Follower, you are rich in ways the world system cannot even imagine. You have a unbelievably glorious inheritance that ONLY the people of God can know. If you go and read about this in Ephesians 1:3-14 you may see all the details of this astounding heritage that is yours.
However, don't just read it, because this truth is too important. Yes! Read it. Then write these verses down word for word. Then write as you paraphrase what wonderfilled things he is telling you. Reflect by asking, "What is God actually saying to me." Take some time to do so, and you will ...
Be Blessed 2day ... Especially Today
