Deeply Loved

NO GREATER LOVE

Greater Love Has NO ONE Than This: To Lay Down One's Life For A Friend.
John 15:13 NIV -- Jesus

In November 10, 2010, Lance Corporal "Kyle" Carpenter did the unthinkable.  A grenade landed where it would kill a fellow Marine.  While others scattered, he jumped on top of the grenade bearing the full impact of the explosion. See President Obama Awarding him the Medal of Honor below. You may have to copy and paste this to your URL to get the video.

After the explosion, everyone thought he was dead.  Realizing he had survived, his friends kept saying, "You are going to make it!"  He responded, "I am going to die."  He also said, "I have made my peace with God."

What made him lay down his life this way?  The even bigger question is What made it possible for him to make his peace with God?  He did it because he loved the life of his fellow Marine more than he did his own.  He demonstrated this by offering his own body as the ultimate sacrifice. He was able to make his peace with God because he believed that someone greater than he, Jesus, had the "No greater love" for him and for the whole world. Jesus laid down his life for you.  He laid down his life for me.  Now we can, like Corporal Carpenter, find peace with God ourselves.  As Paul says, "Therefore being credited as being righteous by faith,  we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ."  Because of what Jesus did to lay down his life, everyone of we who truly believe have all our sins are forgiven.  We are sanctified holy, and credited as being perfect in God's sight as HE transforms us into new creations.  Believe this.  Receive this.  Experience this.

One day, because Jesus loved and loves us so much, there will be no need to jump on grenades or practice warfare ever again.  For when his Kingdom fully comes, a child will be able to play upon a snake hole.  A lion will lay down with the lamb.  We will convert our earthly weapons and  war equipment into agricultural machines, and we will study war no more.

This is the hope of we who are deeply loved by the Lord.
