Psalm 37:4-6
Delight yourself also in the Lord,
And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
5 Commit your way to the Lord,
Trust also in Him,
And He shall bring it to pass.
6 He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light,
And your justice as the noonday.
Trust also in Him,
And He shall bring it to pass.
6 He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light,
And your justice as the noonday.
Getting your life on track can be one of the most challenging things you have to do once it "jumps the rails." Life can simply be going along with a sense of normalcy, and then all the sudden life can happen in such a way that things become ... well ... challenging. Our changing culture, our family, our job or navigating through the various ages and stages of life impact us in such a way that we need God's spiritual transformation to move us forward.
This particular passage, and a favorite of mine - Psalm 37:4-6- is one of God's reminders of how we can become the overcoming ones. This Wisdom of the "Ancient of Days" imparts 3 spiritual golden nuggets of supernatural enlightenment. And these nuggets of truth can free us up to revolutionize or revitalize our lives and the lives of those to whom we are shining God's radiating light. Todays web log talks about the first nugget. We will mine the other two nuggets later.
"Delight Yourself..."
First God's Word inspires us to be delighted in the Lord. He tells us to make a choice to "Delight yourself in the Lord." The Bible teaches of Christ-Followers that Christ is in us, and we are in Christ ... we are "in the Lord." To bring life to a place of spiritual balance we are to intentionally get our satisfaction in our relationship with the Lord. We are to, by His grace, be gratified by our relationship with the Lord. We are to focus on finding contentment with godliness, which is great gain.
How? Good question. I think this begins with daily surrendering our lives to the Lord. No matter how big or small the trial, we would best give it up to the Lord. Cry out to Him. Focus on Him, and this would include choosing to thank Him in all things, as weird as this may seem to the natural mind; yet, psychologist tell us a gratitude list does tend to bring us more balance, peace and a sense of well being.
Also it never hurts to say honestly to the Almighty, "Lord, help me to day to be delighted in you. Help me to find my pleasure in you. Please Lord, as I seek to be more like Jesus, give me the ability to find your godliness growing up out of my heart and life. And while you are at it Lord, please couple all this with contentment." This doesn't have to be a long prayer. It only needs to be simple and heart felt.
When we delight ourselves in the Lord, He sets up a miracle: He says, "and He will give you the desires of your heart." All too many saints seem to believe that, because I want something, God does not want it. In Gethsemane, where Jesus' will was clearly at odds with the Father's will, He said, "not my will but your will be done;" therefore, many consistently think "my wanter" is at odds with God's. Many really believe God wants something different from what they want as a matter of course. Hence, with this belief, they are in danger of missing God's transformational miracle.
The truth is, if you delight yourself in the Lord, He WILL give you your hearts desire. He will transform you to want precisely what He wants for you. To say this another way, He will transform you to want what He wants you to want. The New Covenant is all about God writing His will on your hearts and your minds. In Romans 12:1-2, Paul is especially clear where he describes God transforming us by "the renewing of our minds."
So open up your heart and life to the miracle of God giving you the desires of your heart. Allow this heart change to "lead you in the paths of righteousness for His names sake." Let this heart change, based on the Word of God, be put into your heart so that you can live out of your heart the issues of life.
Do This and Be Blessed 2day ... Especially Today
