The Authentic Marriage
Authentic: Original, reliable, trust-worthy, true, pure, valid, bona fide. These are the words synonymous with the "real thing" that God called marriage ... marriage between one woman and one man. Notice that no where in this is the word "traditional." So why the people of God bought in to this phraseology is beyond me; however, the last 53 years we have done so quite a lot. Ever since the Courts began becoming activist in nature and took that which is Holy out of our schools, we have fallen victim to letting the world define our words for us. Secularist took over the classroom, and it has been down hill ever since.
Antonyms for "Authentic" include: False, implausible, counterfeit and corrupt. Over the centuries, human beings - even well known Biblical characters and or leaders- did all sorts of things, against God's will. Their actions falsified God's authentic marriage and family structure. They did the implausible. They counterfeited marriage, and they corrupted it. A perfect example was King David. He had a whole bunch of wives. And his son, Solomon ... well ... you can read all about it ... not to mention the hundreds of sex partners (concubines) he had separate from his hundreds of wives.
Now, take some time to view what happened to David's family. Check out what happened to the next King's family, Solomon, who corrupted God's marriage and family plan. The words "Highly Dysfunctional" come to mind. Rape and such occurred within the family. And this dysfuntionality eventually destroyed the nation and it's culture. For others in Israel and Judah followed similar non-God pleasing life styles. Living independent of God, they reaped what they sowed. God gave the healthy/holy plan, and it was placed to the side by mere human beings living independent of what God made clear was life giving.
So, here we go again in the 21st Century: People have come up with what they feel is a better plan. No longer does the authentic suit their way of living. They have an "alternative" lifestyle, which they have made legal in the eyes of 5 court justices ... setting aside the votes of millions of Americans. Now these little gods of humans have it legally codified as the law of the land. That which God has said is morally wrong, hurtful to the human race, and therefore displeasing to God, is now legal in The United States of America.
Re-defining marriage by code or action is nothing new. But if people who believe in authentic marriage try to discuss this rationally, the new digressive persons that have gotten themselves favorably labeled as progressives, start libelously labeling the authentics as bigots, haters, and homophobes. Those who were once labeled as deviants by DSM III (Psychology's ever changing "bible" and moral code) managed to change the ways our culture thinks about words. DSM V is doing a similar thing. In changing the words they changed the feelings about the words: So, these who have hijacked the words of the English language changed the values of the English language. Now they refuse to discuss issues intelligently. In the most hateful, intolerant language they can speak, they seek to harm in anyway possible (even financially) those who would disagree with them. Just ask some folks in Oregon who are bakers.
However, this still does not prevent their "new thing" from being false, counterfeit, implausible and or corrupt in the eyes of God. God would have rather prevented the destructive culture that has followed redefinition of marriage and will follow these redefinitions today. Data is already flowing in demonstrating that those who are children of non-authentic relationships are more likely to be sexually molested than those who come from authentic marriage. ... a home with a relatively healthy father and a relatively healthy mother. Hmmm? Didn't a rape occur in David's family with all that counterfeit relating. This is not new. It is very old. The impact will be the same on our culture as it was and has been every time people try to improve on God's value system.
What is sad and humorous about this is, not only is this not a new thing, the modern day regressive who likes to be called progressive, do not realize that God indeed told us this was coming thousands of years ago, and God told us the consequences of this. Just as God told our primal Ancestral Grandparents the outcome of their desire to live independent of God, He also warns our generations of the consequences. God clarifies the issues so we can choose to live in such a way to prevent those consequences. But we still have to make our choices.
Yes, we are indeed like our ancestors: God has told us that these days would come and they would bring destruction, if we choose worldly wisdom... if we choose unwisely. Many Authentics have tried to tell the world, "Hey don't go there!" Regressive persons don't want to hear it, and they want others to not hear it. So they go on attack. No, I don't think God is trying to be a mean bullying judgmental God... though He could if He wanted. He Is God People! He can do whatever He wants. Nevertheless, He demonstrated perfect love to save us, but we still can choose to not do what is best. He is giving us a chance to "not go there."
I think the flow of our culture is to do the very thing that is going to make us like the Roman Empire and Greece. We are heading for a collision with history. We have not learned from it. We are not learning from it, and so we are going to repeat it ... against the will of God. This does not make me very happy, and I am certain God's is not happy either.
