What Is A Christ Follower To Be?

 

As I look at what I see going on in the world today, I see some very disturbing things going on.  Besides the MILLIONS of Christians being persecuted simply for name the name of Jesus.  Something about which I blogged not long ago.   I see God's ancient people facing a dilemma.  Let me explain.

 

 

Just in a few short weeks well over 3000 rockets have been fired into Israel from Gaza by Hamas.  Israel has used it's "Iron Dome" to stop the majority of those rockets which have one purpose... to kill innocent civilians.  A huge number of their people are having to go into bomb shelters daily.  If you were to put this on a scale adjusted according to America's population, we are talking about 200 million American's would be going into bomb shelters, while our government would try to protect us with Patriot Rockets.

 

Add to this that Hamas has stolen the money that the U.S. gave the Palestinian Authority for building homes for Palestinians.  And they have made sophisticated tunnels --with that money-- so they can come out into Israel near schools, hospitals, synagogues and heavily populated areas in Israel.  Why?  They have one purpose: They want to   kill the civilian population of Israel. Since they built the tunnels, the Palestinians did without their homes. They have left the Palestinians homeless.

 

Needless to say,  Israel has the right to protect itself.  So they go after Hamas to destroy and or degrade their capabilities; however, where does Hamas put their Rocket Launchers and other war equipment?  They put them in schools, hospitals, mosques and areas where their own people would be human shields.  In protecting itself, Israel drops leaflets, sends tweets, and they send email to the Palestinians to get them to leave where they are going to attack Hamas; therefore, we have Israel protecting people by using their capabilities to protect them as Hamas does not protect it's  own people; but Hamas intentionally uses their people for the purpose of causing as much collateral damage for the cameras as possible.  And they use their own people to protect themselves.  Hamas tries to murder Israelis and sets their own people up to be murdered.

 

No matter how hard Israel tries to protect it's own,  and even the Palestinians, the cameras (without the context I just gave) show high body counts among the Palestinians and few among Israel.  The reports are absolutely wrong that declares Israel is deliberately targeting civilians.  I hate war.  Yet I have to tell you if Israel is to survive, this horrific collateral damage is going to occur.  BUT Israel is NOT to blame. Hamas is to blame.   Hamas is targeting civilians, and they are setting their own people up to be burned on the ash heap of war.   I don't know of any military machine (like Israel)  that sends texts, tweets, emails and leaflets before they attack to tell the people to get out of harms way. And these terrorist, Hamas, are out to even destroy their own people to win the propaganda war.

 

What is a Christ Follower to be?  We are to pray for peace and do all we can to help make it happen.  We are to be sure we get ALL the facts before we condemn folks who are simply trying to stay a live.  Then we should share the truth with as many people as possible.  Finally, there is no question we should trust our Creator, for one day The Creator God, whose Son's name is Jesus, WILL indeed sort  all this out.  This is one Christ Follower who supports the Ancient people of Israel, given the circumstances in which they are required to live.  They either protect themselves or they are annihilated.
