Tapping In To God's Treasure

But my God shall supply all your needs according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:19

A lot of people, who are in need, like to copy this script or quote it. Yet I do not think some people realize just how powerful a Scripture verse is this very special promise,  for those who are seeking to do the will of God.

As a matter of fact, it seems to me that there may be two types of people who are quoting this passage: The first type are those who just like to think of God as a "bellhop in the sky." The second type of people, who quote this verse,  are people who are in service to the Lord. This promise is for the people of God who are seeking first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and it is not a promise for those who are looking at God as if he is some kind of a super natural sugar daddy. And it is not about our wants, but it is about God meeting our needs... as we seek to serve him; therefore this is a very precious promise to Christ followers. So it's important to listen,  as you deny yourself take up the cross and follow Jesus.

Now it's clear that it is the creator God who is the supplier on the needs. And it is also clear that he is very involved in the life of Christ followers.  So, the creative God is up close and personal to his children, even while he's running the universe. This means he is up close and personal to each one of us, and the needs that he supplies cover all your needs. What would these be?

I think that there are basically five hierarchy of needs about which God is concerned,   when he is taking care of his children  who are in service to him: First he is deeply concerned about our spiritual needs and the spiritual needs of our loved ones.  No one knows these  spiritual needs better than we. Then too there are our emotional needs.  Of course, since God has called us all to be in relationship, he also will supply all of your relationship needs.  Financial  needs are next. Yes, God cares about these. Last, but  not least, God will supply our physical needs.

Why are these needs so important to effective ministry?  Let's look at spiritual needs first: When we first met Christ, and we made him our Lord and Savior, a real miracle occurred! He raised Our spirits from the dead!  It is the spirit gives life! it is also the spirit that makes us God conscious.  The soul-- the seat of emotions--makes a self-conscious.  Once our spirit has come to life,  there is a healing that takes place in our soul that helps us balance our  emotions... especially when we are facing the challenges of ministry. Relationship needs are also vital to our well-being. when these relationship needs not met, it is very difficult to be successful in ministry.  That is why being in worship or being a part an accountability group is so important. Regarding financial needs: We are told in the Bible that God gives us power to get wealth for the purpose  of establishing his covenant. We don't get wealth for the purpose of getting rich. God meets these financial needs, as well,  according to his riches in glory.  Next there are physical needs. Each of us have physical needs that must be met if we are going to accomplish the  will of God. God will meet these needs.

Well that's about it.   Tapping into God's treasure is available for the asking... if you are seeking first the kingdom of God and his righteousness. He will indeed supply all your needs according to his riches in glory .
