The First Spirituality Tool For Coping With An Anxiety Attack.

Don't be anxious about anything, but in everything with prayers and petitions, with praise, present your request to God, and the peace of God that transcends all understanding will guard you hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.  Paul

Hear are how God's promises work:  He gives us a promise that will work.  We decide to believe it or receive it, and then we decided to act on it.  When we do act on it, our lives are impacted in a powerful grace filled way.

In the last blog, we noticed that experiencing anxiety is not a sin.  Jesus became blood sweatily anxious, and we know that Jesus never sinned.  Now we get right down to the real nitty gritty.  We see how to cope with this painful emotion and get to the other side of it. When we do so,  God promises to put a guard of peace to stand guard over our heart.  And we see this guard provides us with peace that is far transcendent to anything we can understand.

Check out the scripture above and you will see the first step of using spirituality to cope with an anxiety attack...prayer.  This is precisely what Jesus did in Gethsemane when he experienced his anxiety attack.  Prayer worked for him, and prayer will work for you.

I would like to give you a prayer tool that will help you get through the anxiety attack to a place where Jesus gives you the peace that the world cannot give.  It is a liturgical tool that, if you sit back, slow your breathing and breath deeply, will help you focus your praying.

Here is this prayer based on a "psalter" type format and
the "Serenity Prayer."

Dear Lord Jesus,
Son of The Living God and Prince of Peace,
grant me peace:

Please give me peace to accept things that I cannot change.

Dear Lord Jesus,
Son of The Living God and Prince of Peace,
grant me peace:

Please give me courage to change what I can.

Dear Lord Jesus,
Son of The Living God and Prince of Peace,
grant me peace:

Please give me the peace -bathed in godly wisdom- to really know
what I can change and what I cannot change.

Dear Lord Jesus,
Son of The Living God and Prince of Peace,
grant me peace:

Please supernaturally fill me with
Power to live one day at a time...
Power to enjoy this one moment at a time...

Dear Lord Jesus,
Son of The Living God and Prince of Peace,
grant me peace:

Please transform my thoughts to see this path of hardship
As your pathway to peace.

Dear Lord Jesus,
Son of The Living God and Prince of Peace,
grant me peace:

Please Lord help me to make the same choices you would make,
Lord Jesus,

Dear Lord Jesus,
Son of The Living God and Prince of Peace,
grant me peace:

Yes, help me to take the world as what it is...
rather than to try and do the impossible...
and fret over what I think it "ought to be."

Dear Lord Jesus,
Son of The Living God and Prince of Peace,
grant me peace:

Cause me to be content with what I have
so that I will be balanced and happy
in this life
And
Many times more happy in heaven.

Dear Lord Jesus,
Son of The Living God
grant me peace
As only You Can Impart Peace...
For you are the Almighty God
The Everlasting Father
The Prince of Peace.

I pray this in Your Holy Name
As You Surround My Heart With Peace.

AMEN!

This is the first spiritual step for coping with anxiety.
You can pray this prayer or
simply talk
With
God.

Either way...

Practice Practice Practice
and...
You may just find yourself beginning to cope with anxiety.
You might just surprise yourself
and be on a journey
of God given
PEACE.

Shalom Y'all
