WWJD: If He Were Voting Today???
Sometime ago one of our major denominations began a campaign that was successful in selling bracelets and hopefully motivated people to live better lives. It was the "What Would Jesus Do" campaign. Well during these Presidential/Congressional/State & Local Campaigns, this is certainly a question Christ Followers (Christians) would do well to ask:
What would Jesus do? Would He really vote for a man who has consistently produced legistlation, since his earliest days, that supports the killing of a baby, not only in the first trimester, but also in the second and as late as the last day of the pregnancy? Would he really vote for a man who developed legistlation to protect a friend who left a baby to die, after the baby survived a botched abortion? The President of The United States (and his party) hold o these extreme abortive measures.
Keep in mind that Jesus said, of all children, "Let the little children come to me, and don't push them away. For they are the best example of God's Kingdom people." He also said, "If anyone harms one of these little ones, it is better for him to have a mill stone tied around his neck and then for him to be cast into the sea."
You may say, "Wow! That is extreme!" So is the taking of the life of an innocent child who represents the best of God's Kingdom. Yes, the taking of innocent life flies in the face of Jesus Father of whom the ancient ones said, "God hates the shedding of innocent blood." I do not think Jesus could support such policies.
What would Jesus do, if He had a choice between a national party that had to argue over whether or God needed to be even mentioned in their platform or not, juxtaposed to one that gives clear indicators that religious freedom and faith in The Almighty is important? And they also believe in the right to not choose to have faith, as the Father in Heaven also allows. What would he do as he heard a large number of one party vote a resounding "NO" against God being even mentioned in their assembly?
What would Jesus do when asked to decide to vote for a party that favors Marriage as being defined between a Woman and a Man juxtaposed to one that has an "evolving view" that sides with sexual immorality even as they want to leave God out of the equation? What would He do indeed, especially since Jesus Himself utilitzes the "tradtional" concept of marriage as the ultimate expression of redemption for His church: I am speaking, of course of the "Marriage Supper of The Lamb."
What would Jesus do, when little girls are being shot simply for standing up to evil men who will not allow them to go to school or have any rights. What would He do in this True War on Women, while one party counterfiets this phrase and steals it for so called "reproductive rights?" Would He care about the little girls who are being tortured, raped and abused? Would He say to those who speak of women as only being sexual beings, "Go and sin no more?" What would Jesus do with His vote in this case?
What would Jesus do when deciding to vote regarding economical matters? Would He favor the party or person who spends far more than they have, robs each new child of $51,000 in taxes and is pushing the nation toward bankruptsy? Would He really vote for a person that is such a poor steward of his economical opportunity as this President? Or would He raise up a man who has the skills and the will to bring these United States of America back from the brink of financial disaster?
What would Jesus do when choosing if He should trust a man who proclaimed that he is all about transparency/hope and change? Would He vote for a man who did just the opposite of all but one thing that he promised?
If you are a Christian (a true Christ Follower) this election is NOT about what mere men would do. This is NOT about what mere women would do. It is NOT about being affiliated with a party. It is about denying ourselves, taking up the Cross and following Jesus. It is not about being a Democrat or Republican. It is about being a Christ Follower. It is about concerning myself with what concerns Jesus: A Christ Follower must surely ask, "What Would Jesus Do" as that Christ Follower votes: I am convinced that Jesus would NOT VOTE for someone who sheds innocent blood, as does our President. I am convinced that Jesus would NOT VOTE for someone who has an evolving view of marriage. For Christ sanctified Marriage in a wedding feast in Cana of Galilee and He uses it has his ULTIMATE symbol of redemption. I am convinced that Jesus would NOT VOTE for those who call a War on Women what it really is not, while totally ignoring young women being slaughtered. They had/have the gigantic mega phone (the American press), yet they don't speak out. I am convinced, that Jesus would not saddle the latest babies being born with $51,000 per child of taxes. I am convinced that Jesus would NOT VOTE for people who are poor stewards of our economy and who are sending America over a fiscal cliff called bankruptsy.
Jesus gave President Obama a chance to give us "Hope and Change." Instead President Obama gives immorality and shame and a devolving nation. Jesus gave this man a chance for "fundamental change," and this President has fundamentally changed things for the worse. It is time to give someone else a chance.
I have stated my case. As you go to vote, if you claim to believe in Jesus, do as I have done: Do NOT affilitate with ANY political party. Simply recognize, Christ Followers, we will indeed stand before the Judgement Seat of Christ. Therefore, it is imperative to ask, as we vote... "WHAT WOULD JESUS DO?" Then vote accordingly.
