THE GREAT REFUGE
GOD is our refuge and strength. A present help in our time of need; therefore, we will not be afraid. Psalm 46:1-2a
Sometimes life throws you a few "curve ball" surprises. Stuff just happens, and you are left reeling and off balance. The economy, loss, strained relationships, financial loss, sickness and even death in your family catch you buy surprise... some even get whacked by an oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico while leaders party on.
This old SoJourner is here to tell you I have experienced just about all of the above up close and personal. YUK! Going through it feels like, "WOW! what else can happen?" Such things can be overwhelming, heartbreaking and heart aching. Anxiety provocation CAN become your daily vocation. AND depression CAN become your daily expression! "It ain't NO fun! ... Bad English, but this is definitely a fact!
OR... you can do what "The man after God's own heart" did. What's did he do? He wrote a Psalm. Check out Psalm 46.
- Give is a quick read.
- Now sit down with if for a while and think about what God wants you to hear.
- Then get you a note book... yes start a journal:o)
- Write down the Psalm as if you were writing it for the very first time as its author, whom God IS going to inspire.
- After you have written your Psalm, ask "Now what does God want me to be so that I can experience God as MY refuge and strength" If your family members or friends are willing and able, ask them to also become Psalmist along side of you.
- THEN share your insights. You maybe surprised how differently God speaks to the others. (Different does NOT mean wrong. It just means different.)
- Reflect on your insights and those of your family or friends. Then....
Be Blessed 2 day (Especially 2 day). 2 day is your only God guaranteed day!
